John A Logan College in Illinois is also known as the Volunteers.
I didn't know there was another. I was driving thru Illinois yesterday and happened to hear "Lady Vols" on the radio during a sports score segment.
And their women are called the "Lady Vols" That's some B.S.
"John A. Logan, the man after whom John A. Logan College is named, was born February 9, 1826, in what is now Murphysboro, Illinois (Even stealing our city names, lol) Raised in a home that was a center of political activity, he came to love politics at an early age.
In 1840 his father, Dr. John Logan, sent him to Shiloh Academy at Shiloh Hill, Illinois, to complete his education. Here Logan excelled in oratory.
Logan volunteered for the Mexican War in 1846. He saw no combat, but did travel to Santa Fe, where he served as post quartermaster and learned Spanish." Wow, traveled to Santa Fe, and learned Spanish??? He's a damn hero. Somebody get this man a medal!! smdh

Which song? I like most of Tom's stuff.
This was my old Elementary School. But it has been closed for years, but our nickname was the Vols!
