Exactly what all of the offseason experts thought we were. They said we were looking at 7-5. That was until the first game and we blew out NC ST. The way we manhandled them gave the experts/fans too much hope. The more I think it over the more I see that we are no worse or better than we were labled to be. I like everyone else had high hopes that our offense could work some folks over and break their spirits early giving us an extra win here or there. Although its not going to happen this year.

I agree OP, and that's why I don't understand why everyone is so distraught over the MSU loss. I mean I feel like we are better than MSU, but we also played on the road in a tough environment. If that game is at home I think we win.

We can still get to 7-5 with a bowl win giving us 8 wins. I'm ok with that to build on.

GO VOLS!!!

Offseason experts get paid to guess where we should be and we know what we could be is the problem.

Are you trying to say you can't spell 'Music City' without 'UT'??

we are distraught over the job Dooley is doing with this team. has nothing to do with what experts predicted or just the Miss St loss, its what our eyes see when we turn on the game.

You are ok with beating 6 teams with losing records?...Really?....To me that just looks like padding to help Dooley....Sorry i'm not falling for it...It doesn't show ANY improvement.

I think it's more than just the record.

It's having a team incaoable of playing any defense in year 3.

It's missing extra points.

You can play sound football and lose. That happens. It doesnt make people feel good, because losing is always bad.

However, Tennessee is not playing sound football. And it's year 3.

Fan-atics always blow expectations out of proportion. All summer long, we read on here that NCSU sucked because they lost to Cincy and UT beat Cincy....sound logic, I know.

However, when UT beat NCSU the expectations rose tremendously....even though all summer long we read on here how bad they sucked.

Now, UT was 18 minuted away from beating UF and could be 5-1 or 4-2...but we're 3-3. Right about where the preseason prediction placed us.

I understand that, but what I see is that our defense is the main problem. I feared that would be the problem going into the season because we are attempting to change schemes and that is a difficult thing to do when you are a middle level SEC team and trying to get back to the winning ways of the past.

I never expected us to change schemes and dominate defensively. This year we have lost to good teams and I think that it has to do with our defense. We have more depth, but we still don't have the depth of the top tier teams in the SEC.

If we get rid of Dooley then there will be even more turnover. I don't think that is what we need.

Just my opinion though.

You make more sense than some of our own fans man.

I understand that and that's a fair point, but UGA, Fla, Bama, and SC are all more talented than we are at this point and time across the board. You can make an argument that we are just as talented or more talented than MSU but we still had to travel to a tough environment.

I'm disappointed as well, but I don't think starting the process all over again is the answer to our problems.

Just my opinion though.

I totally agree with this. We are not playing sound football. Did we have a shot to beat FL yeah and blew it. Did we have a shot to beat UGA? yes blew it. Should we have beaten MSU? I feel that we should. Although the experts expected to see these kinds of failures from us apparently. Do they know more about Dooley than any of us fans do? I would say they apparently do. They had the feeling that he couldnt get the job done.

True story.

I remember people talking about the greatness of Tyler Bray, Justin Hunter, Jaq Smith, Corey Miller, Maggitt and so on.

All of these highly rated recruits are going to be beasts and they don't pan out. Why??? Poor coaching. They're projected as first round picks and we still lose. Why??? Poor coaching.

The coaching is bad.

My only problem with this whole argument is that the team overall has failed to show any improvement over the last 3 years. Hell we looked better in Dooley's year 1 than we do now. Looked at next year's schedule and if we lose Patterson, Bray, Hunter, Rivera, and maybe even a couple of O lineman it is going to get even worse under Dooley. We could have 7 losses next year.

I just don't see how anyone given the last 3 years could look at Dooley and think he is the coach that will lead us over the hump. If there was ever a year for him to do that it would of been this year, because next year is going to be worse.

Dooley will be fired after next season after he wins either 5 or 6 games. Lets starting the rebuilding process this year instead of putting it off next year.

I have no Crystal Ball so hell he could actually win a game against a ranked team sooner or later, but the facts are stacked against him.
