i dont understand why people cant grasp this. youth may not be an excuse to some but it is. so are injuries and so is a lack of depth. when you mix all those together then you have a huge problem.

offensive line- 4/5 are sophmores or freshman.... going against some of the best juniors and seniors in the nation week in and week out. people saying they were better last year are wrong. the only reason it looked like it was because poole would have a couple big runs a game for almost all his yards ie the bama game he had 60 on one run and 40 something the rest of the game. this year there were holes but our backs missed them. i expect this unit to be shaken up this off season and some of the younger guys to see more playing time(look for mack truck at center, marcus jackson played some this season at guard, tiny richardson at tackle, kerbyson at guard is also possible)

quarter back- bray broke his thumb and missed almost half the season we started matt simms and a freshman that many have said is a bit of a project enough said.

running back- poole gave up this year. watch his runs he didnt finish them or try for extra yardage once contact was made. lane has a high ceiling but needs to stay healthy, hopefully being another year removed from his knee injury will help. tom smith should be a year bigger and stronger and cross and hill look sec ready size wise but one may end up at full back. neal may also be back at rb

wide reciever- rodgers played great but needs to make the easy catches not just the spectacular. hunter is an unknown we will see how he recovers the wr from arky didnt will hunter? arnett looks good but needs size something the offseason is for, same goes for dallas. neal may play more wr and i am for it he looks great.

it may look like gloom and doom right now but the peices are there next season and with the depth we are building we will even be able to withstand a couple of injuries. the future is bright dooley may not be able to coach but he is building a roster that will need to be reckoned with i still support him and think its incredibly shortsighted to think other wise but if he dosent make us competitive and win some games next year then i want him gone no excuse next year. this year however was not his fault.

Still all that is no excuse to lose to KY... there are other issues..

All the coaching in the world would not have made that offense come to life. Those guys were done. They didn't want to play anymore. Had Dooley benched them and played other kids, yall would be complaining about that. Our second string could not win against them. KY came to play for their seniors, ours were apparently too sick or too selfish to do that. I'm calling a spade a spade, that loss was all on the offense.

i need some help here. let's see, was it youth or injury that kept dooley from figuring out that stone couldn't handle the center spot till mid-season?

No excuse for that BS. Also to add no second half adjustments, The OC thinks that basketball on grass works in the SEC (Joe Tiller Era). This is sad. And to top it off Dooley who is a well spoken person, educated (smart), a freaking lawyer, Dad a SEC great, But his x's and o's arent helping me build faith in him at all. The guy was a tightends coach for Saban not an OC or DC so game planning isn't his nack we should have never hired him, and it makes Kiffin Look a hellva lot better than him. Kiffin did great stuff with a 5/6 round draft guard and two walk-ons this crap is pathetic!

Bruh! whatever! don't get your hopes up CHH sucked in Chicago for the Bears so know wonder the oline sucks. If he sucked in the pros what makes you think he is going to be good in college just saying. If he doesn't fire Chaney and HH I see the same excuses and same losing vols period

Maybe, but at what cost to them and us? They might have respected him, but he's not here is he? How bout that respect?
your right. ( And I am an angry vol fan that wants the ship fixed not trying to go personal or lash out),but lets fix the problem and get sombody in here that will get the job done. He has been here 2yrs and he could have put his system in offensively. These kids arent dumb at all the reason why they came to UT was to play football and you tell me that in two years the Defense can learn the system and some Juco players learn the system on the D midseason and the Olineman have been here 2yrs together and they can't learn the system or blocking scheme.GTFO!

Facts and logic don't have a chance against emotion and lunacy. We want burn mattresses, throw fits of rage, have our PMS moments and run off our recruiting prospects. That's a lot more fun.

Maybe the the system or blocking scheme is a part of the problem.

I have always been a staunch Dooley supporter. After the Kentucky fiasco I have changed my mind. Nothing more than a second tier WAC coach. I am sure his father has seen the obvious problems on this team such as the o line and the weak offensive schemes etc. I desperately want Dooley to succeed but I honestly have my doubts. If he doesn't get some coaches to replace the poor ones he will fail after next year. I can accept a beating by Georgia,LSU,Alabama but when you get beat by Kentucky with an artificial quarterback. Something has to give. UTM could have played Kentucky a good game Saturday. Largest and best facilities in the SEC, fan support second to none, a financially secure program but we win one(1) SEC game. That sucks, my friends, and something needs to be done now to correct this joke. I am not an advocate of firing Dooley this year but I will be next if there is not significant improvement. No more excuses are acceptable !!!

Here is what gets me. I have seen young and inexperienced teams in all sports who were fundamentally sound, well prepared and showed improvement from the beggining til the end of their season. Did they always win? No. Where they ever overmatched? Yes but they snuck up beat some teams as well! What is the difference between a good young team and a bad young team?

You have just described our undermanned defense. The offense, special teams and kicking game...not so much.
