The next two weeks can make a world of difference for this team. On one hand, if we beat Florida and then Georgia, we can walk to Atlanta. If we just show up to play like the team Butch and the media hyped us to be, both of these teams are easily beatable with our defense. Butch can get rid of a lot of bad blood in just under 13 days time.

However, the ugly side of this is really ugly. You have perhaps the most beatable Florida team in a generation coming to our house. We will no doubt checker the stadium and Gameday and the national media will be watching. When I think of the Florida game with this terrible backup QB, I envision a baby bear cub being chained to a tree for us to blow away. But what if Butch pulls the trigger and misses? Another national embarrassment. And then compound that with going to Georgia and losing.

Honest questions: can Jones survive the worst case scenario? And conversely if we win both games has Jones earned your unquestioned loyalty?

BUtch will be here next year, no matter what.

I am not saying that I will be happy to see him if the wheels fall off this year, but he will be here.

The only circumstance under which Butch would be fired this year is if something new comes out regarding the Title IX stuff. I don't think he gets fired this year for bad on the field performance, no matter how bad it is.

I'm sorry but we can't "just walk into Atlanta" in this environment. Nothing is easy. That's the mistake a lot of people are makeing. You have to earn it the hard way.

BUtch going nowhere either way. Get used to it and support.

Jones will survive this season regardless of our final record. Next season is questionable as early termination would result in a ~$7.5 million buyout, but if things got bad enough maybe he would go.

That said, I don't expect things to look bad for him anytime soon, or next season for that matter. I expect things to look bad for one of our coordinators and maybe some of our position coaches toward the end of the season if certain things don't change; not Jones.

However, I'm confident in our boys and I also expect wins over Florida and Georgia before a tough Alabama game :D GBO!!!

If he cannot successfully navigate the next 4 weeks and stay in the race for an SECCG appearance (I think 3-1 is necessary to do so), he will be on the hot seat next season, especially with his boy Hart taking a bow.

We need to have a performance like we had in our last bowl game. Should we play like that, we can beat anyone.

No matter what Butch gets another year. The New AD gets here in June or July. If Butch is 8-4 or worse the first thing he does is start to look for a new coach. imo

Maybe I'm just getting old, but the blowing away a baby bear cub tied to a tree imagery is a bit much.

I agree. Mizzou is starting to find an O now, Vandy always plays us tough, our two west opponents are looking like world beaters and we've under performed or played down so far against lesser opponents. I'm a sunshine pumper but no way we get to walk anywhere.

Really? With 6 starters out and what I would call catastrophic injuries, 8-4 might be a miracle. Even Stoops said preseason he would be OK as long as Cam, JRM, And Kirkland were here. Now what.

Seeing how this team has played vs inferior competition in 2 of the first 3 games, I think you're kidding yourself if you don't think Tennessee could lose to Mizz and @usc.

Also, injuries are stacking up at key places.

Screaming for a primarily drop back QB with this OL is begging for disaster.

Also, CBJ aint going anywhere. Yeah fans might be pissed but Administration knows the pile of crap he inherited and knows that turning this around in 4 yrs was pretty remarkable considering the schedules he's played. Last, who in the "F" is going to fire him?

The better question might be: If the worst case scenario plays out, will Debord make it until the end of the season?

My unquestioned loyalty is to the University of Tennessee. That being said, this is about as close to a must-win game for Jones as there has ever been. The game is in Neyland and the fan base will be jacked up. UF has lost their starting QB and by all accounts, their back-up Austin Appleby is close to hot garbage. Even without Cam and Kirkland on D and a porous O -line, Tennessee should win this game if they can find a way to limit their mistakes and miscues. Tennessee doesn't have to be perfect to win this game just proficient and efficient.

Playing well sorta has to happen eventually or your hero will be gone, sooner than later. Another zero for rivals season puts him in the crosshairs, no matter how much you love him.

This is the biggest game by far for CBJ. If you think about it, it shouldn't be. In the past 3 years he could put all doubt to rest by beating uf once. One time would change everything. I don't think our own coach knows how big it is when ut beats uf. the confidence and prospective of the entire season changes. If you think neyland is loud now, wait till after the uf game. If we beat uf and uga the bama game will be NC season loud.

If Lyle was unhappy with the state of the fan base after the Arkansas game last year....he's really going to be in a twist if he gets beaten by Florida and a backup QB again. We didn't foster, embrace, and even cultivate the expectations for this year, he did to a large extent.

I want nothing more to come out with the W the this week. But after coming out flat in the first quarter of the schedule, it's going to take more than playing them close. He has to win, or the atmosphere is going start to heat up in Knoxville. I'm not predicting the administration will be close to doing anything...his job's not in danger. But the last thing he needs is to lose the fan base, with a new AD on the way.

Bc we love mediocricy on the hill. Bama and Fl wouldn't put up with. Guess that why they have been to ATL most
