We are not going 4-8

Beating florida has to require some divine intervention at this point.

Nah, FL is steadily going down while CBJ recruits consistent top recruiting classes (hopefully) which is essentially a reverse of the last decade. In 1-3 years TN will start dominating if FL can't get their recruiting act back in line.

The only team on our schedule who poses a significant issue to long term development is Bama. The Third Saturday of October will probably regain it's past prominence in the next 2-3 years

This is assuming everything stays on course.

UF wont stand by and allow that to continue.

Anyone else find it disturbingly surreal that we are cheering and hoping for a 5-7 season?

That's what I was thinking. It's somehow acceptable to go 5-7 but make fun of teams that go 4-8? They both suck!

6-6. We beat Nooga, Vandy and Ky Jelly. I think we will also steal a win from someone, most likely South Carolina or Missouri.

I agree that this scenario is the most likely. A win against either Ole Miss or Bama isn't completely out of the question, but unlikely. I know I would love to see this team turn it around, and if the O-line can improve any at all we still have a chance to have a special season. The loss to Florida makes it more difficult to do so, but if we could somehow manage to beat either Bama or a top 5 Ole Miss team and win 7 or 8 games (including a bowl game) I think most fans would be thrilled. If on the other hand we do go 4-8 as some are suggesting (i.e. we lose to everyone else on our schedule other than Chattanooga & Vandy), then the pressure will be on Butch to make huge improvements next year.

Its easy to find 2 more wins on UTs schedule, those being UTC and Vandy. That puts you at 4 wins. UK is certainly a winnable game as well, but it could be close. USC and Mizzou should beat you. If you had a chance against either of the 2, I'd say USC because they're quite inconsistent.

The worst coach in our school's history couldn't go 4-8. This team isn't good, but is better than several of our 5-7 teams from the past. Some of the comments I've seen from you people are ridiculous.

IF we don't beat USC, then we will go 5 - 7 again! Next season, hopefully the offensive line will be improved and we will then have to break in a new q.b. Peterman and/or Dobbs are not the long term answer at q.b. for us, so it is likely that the freshman will play early.

To me Missouri is the key game that hinges on our bowl hopes. South Carolina will play with a serious edge after losing last year. JMO.

I just want to know how barely losing to UGA and Florida suddenly means "automatic loss to any even remotely decent team". Because a lot of fans are making that jump.

I think it's more finding ways to lose and yet again choking away a win that lead people to that assumption.

Makes more sense than assuming these coaches will lead UT to victory against a remotely decent team.

You might be right this year, but if "these coaches" keep having top 2-3 recruiting classes I could coach them to an sec championship game!
