I feel the golden era ended in 1999 which started in 1995. That is arguably one of the greatest runs in UT history dating back to the 1930's under Neyland.

Since 2000 a new era (wait til next year era) which we have been inconstistent. We have been saying we are loaded and we should be better next year. we have been good and we showed flashes of brilliance with potential. This is the era where we are hyped but typically get the 2-3 losses struglle in the bowl games.

Since 2000 we are stuck in the same wait til next year mode. Since 2000 we always said could not wait wait for casey to get better next year. Nothing changed but a few decent stats. Now its the same with Ainge. It didnt happen this year. What makes it so sure it will happen next year.

Maybe. We can still win out and make a decent bowl game. But we basically have no shot at the SEC East anymore.

I agree though, I am dissappointed in this year's team.

I don't frequent the board that often but this post has left me with the desire to speak. Have no fear, after I spread my "nonsense" as some might call it, I will only return on nights blessed with a full moon.

I think this poster has hit the ole nail on the head. We have now entered the twilight zone of we'll get them next year, when actually we probably won't be any different next year or the year after next.

You can blame a whole slew of things for this sputter year after year and rightly so, there are a slew of things to blame.

One thing that stays consistent however, is the cry for an OC that knows what he's doing.

Huh? Sanders is playing Fulmer ball you say?? Yes, it's true. We all adore our Fulmer and his whopping 80% record which I think is down to 79 now. I myself must admit that it is a great accomplishment in the SEC but.............how many of those 20% losses were the big games?? Don't check, you might see a trend and we can't have that. Those kind of things can shake and rattle a complacent fan, so use extreme caution.

I know I know, it's harder to win the big games.......or is it?? 0 - 6 against top 10 teams in our house since 1999 is a pretty obvious hint. When Sanders and the Clausen name showed up, our program showed down. Where most programs tend to build off of a NC season, our beloved Vols manage to squander the big games year in and year out...but there's always next year right?

Is Sanders a good position coach? Yes! Is he a good OC? Good God No!

It boggles my mind why some of you stick up for Sanders the way you do. Are you paying attention or is it just blind love for our team? There is nothing wrong with wanting a change after things have stalled out and taken a nosedive for mediocrity. It would almost appear to be the sane thing to do but I regress.....

So now you may blast me for not being a true fan or call me a bandwagon fan like some tend to do. I know there are some coaching experts on the site as well. As long as you have read what I have to say, I appreciate it.

Go Vols.

Welcome to the board. I don't think your comments are very far off base.

Wasn't Sanders a RB coach also for us? If so, look up the backs he worked with.

No, Ainge regressed through out the year, imo. Clausen never got better after his sophomore year, but in his defense UT's receivers left something to be disired.

Hey I'm with you. I don't care if Sanders ends up serving water at this point in time.

Our coaching by committee hasn't done anything with ST's either. I give up on special teams. I think we shouldn't punt anymore, onside kick all the time and just let the ball bounce around and stare at it.

I like how he handled the multiple RB situation last year and he is a coach that bring enthusiasm and a positive aura to the team. Maybe find another special teams coach, but I want to keep in in the RB position. IMO Rigg's performance this year is because of play calling.

He does bring some enthusiasm and I do think he does a pretty good job. I think he gets too much credit some times though.
