Guys if you are not excited about this football team I can't help. We will have the best receiving core in the country, arguably the top qb in the SEC if not country, we do not lose a single offensive lineman and have plenty of depth for competition and these guys have been in this offense now for 3 years. I think we have the top offense in the SEC.
On Defense we have the defensive line that we upgraded on signing day. I will trade Jackson for McCuller and sentimore everyday of the week not to mention we have Everyone else coming back. Move on to linebacker and we lose Austin Johnson. He will be replaced by Lather who is one year removed from a 75 tackle season(upgrade). The two freshman fenom are back and will only get better. Move on to the seconday and again we lose no one. The only thing I fear is the transition to a 3-4 and if we will be set back as goergia was in 2010. Our defense kept us in games with UGA, USCjr, UF and KY.

With this being said CDD does not get my vote anymore if he can not get to at least 8 wins. He did an amazing job filling positions of need with juco players and in return his expectations are up. We may have missed on a few recruits but the ones we missed I don't think would have had an effect on the win loss column anyway. Anything less than a 9 win season next year and I will be disappointed. By the way I predicted a 6 win season this year and I also think if we are lucky enough to not lose any players to the draft after next year I think we make a run at the NC in 13. Go vols! I personally think we are now BACK!

I agree. Never will we be more fit to win 8+ games than this year. And IF everyone stays around for their senior year (Bray, Hunters, Rogers, CP), then I see no reason in the world we couldn't take the East in 2013. I'm expecting good things out of this team.

So true. If a running game happens, then give Jay Graham and Sam Pittman a raise. Cause there was nothing happnin last year. Absolutely dreadful. I love that Tennessee is throwing the ball, but this is a university with a tradition of running the football.

Practically speaking, 2013 maybe: 2012, no. Just my opinion based on the recruiting of Georgia and Florida. I hope you're right.

Florida did really well, Georgia I am not sold on yet. Now if you go check out ESPN's rankings the dawgs fared extremely well. IMO we make a run for the east, but fall short in 2012 or back door or way in.

I agree with the OP. We have the talent to make a run in the east, but we're not quite there against the Bamas and the LSUs quite just yet. Significant strides will need to be made this year, and I believe those strides will happen.

i think every year that we are gonna win the east... it will be nice to brag about my vols once they have a winning record again,hell i even brag when we dont... it will be nice to be feared again in the SEC.

What makes you think SC and UGA will be worse next year? Yes, we will be improved, but so will a lot of teams on our schedule. Besides, those tow games are on the road. 8 wins isn't out of the question, but winning the East will be a challenge

man the importance of our first game on our confidence and team psyche will be huge for this upcoming season... if we lose to nc state it will be a ww3 meltdown, .... if we win all is well.... which team will we face though? the jekyl nc state or the hyde?

Please explain how you win the East winning 8 or 9 games.Yes we have lots of things in place some really good but the OL was supposed to be a strength last year and you should remember very clearly how ineffective they were.And we know Bray can throw the crap out of the ball but he must be standing to due that and with no OL recruits in this class do we have reserves that can play or do they fill space.Reality gentleman 8 wins might fall into the miracle class and after last year i know i would take the 8.Our kicking game the word awful comes to mind.All these things are needed for a decent year.The new coaches could be a blessing or a curse if the players don't pickup the changes quickly

I'll believe it when I see a different team on the field. Most of our players will be the same guys that threw in the towel all season long and didn't even bother to show up to UK. Our team has an attitude problem and a culture of quitting, losing and not caring that has worsened for the past two years. When these guys show they can-- and will-- work to change, I'll believe it. Until then, we have the same players and the same HC, and we are what we were. It's time for a change, and I hope all these new faces can bring it.

One of the most things I'm excited about is our new OL coach. Last year they played soft and were pushed around a lot... I just hope he's a better coach than HH and teaches those guys how to play with a nasty attitude.

I certainly agree that there is call for optimism, but you've bumped your head if you think the Vols can win the East this year. Georgia has the second best team in the SEC. They have a shot at being unbeaten this year. Tennessee is looking at 8-4, maybe 9-3. I think the offense can be great, but the defense is a year away from being dominate. Shifting defensive philosophies isn't like changing a shirt. It takes time and you have to break in the new system.

Talk is cheap. It is all about Xs & Os and player development now. I'm looking no further than the O&W game.
