We actually match up well with Alabama's defense

I know folks are trying to make them out to be a boogeyman but we've already faced a better defense. Florida is actually built to stop our type of offense. We run a spread rushing scheme that is predicated on the QB zone read. We're not trying to run power up the middle from a pro style scheme. That is what Georgia, Arkansas, and LSU run. It's what Alabama is built to stop. Florida had the faster more athletic defense and Dobbs still ran all over them.

People tried to act like Texas A&M was Alabama's worst nightmare because they're a high scoring spread team. However A&M doesn't have a running QB. It's athletic running QBs that have given Alabama's defense the most problems.

If we run Dobbs about 20 times like we did against Florida and Georgia, we'll have a chance.
Are you kidding? We don't match up well anywhere. Robinson is a beast, Ragland and Foster are two of the best LBs in the league, Jones and Humphrey are two of the better DBs.

Agree with several posts on here. UA is on a mission and we dont have linemen on either side of the LS that can compete with them at this time, 5* or not. The loss of Maggett and Tuttle has really hurt. Bring Harbaugh, Gruden, Freeze or any combination of the front runners that are so popular on this site and the outcome will be the same. Depth, experience, and 2-5 years in a college level SC program will almost always beat the lack of these. So why play? Pride, dedication, brotherhood with your teammates and the possibility that the one chance in ten that you have to win can only occur if you give it your ALL. I hope I'm wrong, but UA 34, UT 24. I'd rather lose in Orange than win in red.

we are really close but.......

I think some guys will really step up in this game. the loss of Tuttle hurts but I think someone besides Kmac and Barnet on the d line will have really good game.

I believe Kamara will have his best game since arriving at UT. I believe he will have a great, all purpose yards, game . I also think that we may see Hurd catch more balls out of the backfield.

we need to attack bama in every way possible to win the game. the key to the game is playing aggressive. Also, if we can limit bama to just a few big plays and our red zone d can continue to step up, we can win.

The defeatist attitude is the best one. I am so glad the players share your attitude.

Lol. You obviously don't follow my posts very well. I'm not a negavol. I just choose to look at reality vs getting my hopes set too high on something improbable. It's a personal decision by I get way too bent out of shape when we do lose.

119 has lost some close games but wake up and remember they were CLOSE. Bama might win but this is no gauranteed blowout. Hopefully Hurd is over his stomach bug and the DL is ready. There is a chance.

You lost me at the thread title. If you are serious, then you may need to seek mental health evaluation.

No. No, we don't match up well at all, and Florida's defense is not better than Alabama's.

While I think Dobbs will have some nice runs against the Tide, their overall defense is much stronger than our overall offense. Factor in the crowd noise, a mediocre passing game and our weak OL, and I expect Trevor Daniel to be a very busy guy on Saturday.

Don't know how you can say Alabama is better than Florida when Ole Miss did whatever they wanted to Alabama and couldn't move the ball against Florida.

For a spread team like us who try to use speed to get to the edge, Florida is a rougher matchup. For a power run team like LSU or Georgia, Alabama is tougher.

Its gonna be a close game Nick Saban said him self that Tennessee is a dangerous team that by all rights should be undefeated or a one loss team. Alabama is going to come in serious, its all about how our players respond to them punching us in the nose from the first whistle

Who cares what Saban said. What he says shouldn't be a standard to Vol fans.

Have you seen Tennessee try to run that offense when it mattered?

It usually ends poorly.

Urban runs a deadly spread. Even with poor pay this year from the qb, they keep winning.

Every person here has seen the Tennessee offense unable to even get plays off properly.

So go jump on the suckeye bandwagon Debbie DOWNER!!!!!!!

I disagree. I think Florida was a better matchup for us because they had much less talent at LB. Ragland and company will be much more difficult for Dobbs to elude than Morrison and whichever UF backup was playing alongside him all day. I agree that Bama is built more to stop offenses like UGA or Arky, but they've had success against running QBs too. A lesser Bama defense really gave Dak Prescott fits last year and that MSU team was built a lot like ours is this year.

Ole Miss had a pretty good game against their defense, but Bama turning the ball over 5 times really helped in giving them all the opportunities they needed to build a lead and keep it. Plus, Ole Miss is an objectively better passing team than we are (though their run game is garbage). They're top ten in passing and we're at the opposite end of the spectrum there. Despite Bama's big game against A&M, they're a much better run defense than pass defense (basically the opposite of Florida in that regard) and our strength is running the ball.

The reason I think we'll have a chance (as long as we avoid costly mistakes) is because the QBs Bama has trouble against aren't necessairly "running QBs." Bama has the most difficulty with QBs that can improvise. Dobbs is often at his best improvising. As long as we can avoid turnovers, I think that Dobbs can give us a chance.

Top notch quarterback play beats Alabama. Saban's few losses have been largely due to really good qb play from the other team. Their defense is too good up front and in the backfield. The signal caller can't be overwhelmed by the fronts & coverages. Dobbs must decipher the defense, and then attack it. You will NEVER beat the Crimson Tide by playing passively. We need to come out with our guns blazing. Take the fight to them and keep it there for 60 minutes.

Exactly. That guy is certifiably insane for saying what he said

well...while he may be off on the number of top recruiting classes....Saban is in his ninth year as UA coach and thereby would have had 9 recruiting classes...I think he's had 5 or 6 number 1's in a row....and would be willing to bet the other 3/4 were all pretty damn good too.

maybe you guys need a snickers :hi:

"Whatever they wanted"?? Lol. Did you watch that game? Less than 3 yards per carry rushing the ball and a 54% completion rate throwing the ball is hardly "whatever they wanted".

Ole Miss got 5 gift turnovers from Bama which resulted in short fields and 31 OleMiss points. Credit OleMiss for staying aggressive and taking advantage of those gifts from Bama......and more than a little luck on the 66 yd TD pass in the third quarter that could've been picked about 12 times before falling into the OleMiss wr's hands.

Edit: on an unrelated note D4H, Chris Low just called Paxton Lynch the top college prospect in the country....said 1 SEC coach told him this week that Lynch has a chance to be the overall #1 pick in the upcoming NFL draft.

Yeah, maybe I should just sell my season tickets since we are never going to win another game again.

*Blue font (I'm posting from mobile)

Ignore him 18....whole buncha blithering idiots coming out of the woodwork playing the "I'm a better fan than you are" card these days. Pretty sickening actually.

? Looks like another 38-6 type game; which I remember back a bit vs bammer.

Defeatism at its worse. It won't be anything like 38-6. Good god awmighty.

And for the record, saban has been no. 1 in recruiting 6 of 8 years, not quite as good as you make it.

But yeah, he's cheating his ass off in recruiting. We can beat them anyway.

I'm tired of everyone thinking bama is some unstoppable force. They got beat at home by an average Ole Miss team, who got molested by Florida who, we should have beat.
