We’ve got to get past the idea

What you got to lose? Telling them every year how much the suck isn’t working. It’s a science fact if you tell a child they are bad they are more likely to be bed. Expect the best ,accept the results. We didn’t beat Miami in 85 or NDame in 78 because we had more talent. We had support. I hope some of you support your kids better than you do our team. Telling a teenager he can’t do something whether it’s graduate from college or beat Alabama is guaranteed to lower the chances he does either. That’s fact.

Pruitt was absolutely right to call out our fans after spring game. We are a terrible fan base that doesn’t support or believe in our team. WVU had less talent but expected to win. Look at the Florida board game predictions, not a lot of people scared there to support their team. I suspect some of you don’t know what it means to be a fan. You simply post here for own self validation because you are failures in your own life cause your parents told you what you couldn’t do.

Lol

The wideouts did not drop a pass the best I remember although they did not get many chances. Don't remember that happening in the last how many years!

Kongbo is the defensive equivalent of Jason Croom. They both look the part but neither are football players.
Not disagreeing with your comment about not performing while at UT, but Jason Croom did get a try-out with the Bills. I though that a he would hit his stride at TE, but never took ownership.

They did but they also got to a bowl game if I remember correctly we are closer to 3-9 than going to a bowl game.
To an extend, I agree, especially after the 1st coupleof series. But I trully believe we will end up with one of the better QBs in the conference, some solid WRs and and looks like a really good RB. Yeah, a lot of that means little with no OL, but I think they will be serviceable after awhile. Once Kirkland knocks the rust off and the front 7 gets used to the new defense and the FR DBs get better, I think both sides will give them a chance to finish strong the latter half of the year. 6 wins is by far the ceiling, but I still feel a reality. After 2 easier games to improve, if this team still gets handled by a poor Florida team, I will bail on that statement.

Lol so the team has sucked for a decade because the fans suck. L.o.l.

I watched a lot of football today and we were far and away the worst from a fundamental standpoint. CJP and staff have a long way to go. Hard to coach a team with a losing mentality. This season is about changing that culture.

This. In regards to our talent, if this team was that talented we probably wouldn't have a new coach this year. Even bad coaches dont go 4-8 if they have a talented roster. This roster clearly lacks talent. The film shows that. People can point to how many stars these guys had next to their name, but the film tells the story.

Were there concerns in regards to technique at times? Sure. The biggest problem we have ,though, is the that we don't have the Jimmy's and Joe's regardless of what the star rankings said. If we still are getting pounded like this in year 3, then we may have a problem. For now, though, lets give Pruitt time to change the culture and bring in SEC caliber talent. Go Vols.

Biggest issue to me is so many of the upperclassmen don’t either understand the effort required to win or not interested in giving it. The young guys have no one to learn how to win from. Pruitt has a very big job to do.

that all of our former 4-star recruits are SEC caliber. I don’t want to call any names, but there are several familiar names on our roster who haven’t been consistent playmakers and many of us (myself included) have been holding out hope that they’d turn into SEC talents. We were wrong
That’s true and everyone should have realized that by last year.
Jones recruited some that were awesome but are in the NFL now and that’s why we were 4-8 last year and expectations shouldn’t be much better this year.
Pruit will get us the type we need but it takes time. Patience

I remember reading an article about when Fuente took over the Memphis job. He was shocked by the lack of discipline and the terrible attitudes. It took him a year to change the culture and bring in better kids, and then he got them rolling.

I have no idea if that's the case here or no, but it wouldn't surprise me. Fitz supposedly gets after them. Pruitt and his staff seem like hard-nosed football guys. I think we will see improvement in each game. I will judge this staff by improvement this year. Results next year

Well now that we the problem!
Our team is too busy reading volnation post to put in the time in the class, weight/film room and studying the playbook!
Now if we all just start posting how awesome they/team is we might win 10-11 games this year

Croom was not a good football player. He looked like he should be but he simply was not. Sadly it seems Kongbo is in the same boat.

Just a random thought, but, I'm blaming Kiffin for the loser mentality. Kids are tough and can take a loss, but rejection can instill a cancerous self-doubt that even though a whole bodies-worth of cells have been replenished (new players). Kiffin rejected this team. All the other coaches got rejected. It's bad mojo, which is the more appropriate technical term. But, what do I know? I thought we could beat WV.

There were plenty of teams with worse rosters who played better teams and had much better showings this weekend than Tennessee.

By all means list all those programs. But before you do, research the ones that have the following criteria: zero conference wins and 4 wins the previous year, an ENTIRE coaching staff change, new schemes on both sides of the ball, a first time HC, a DC and OC who have never been full time coaches at those positions, and did those programs play against a Heisman cntending QB with AA WRs.

I will await your response.

Out fan base sucks. We disrespect our players and give them reason to doubt themselves. Do your job as fans stop worrying about ecred. I see a guy post he tsreb 8-4 and some dozen replies NO WAY 7-6 st best. Some stupid stupid posts like that every day This generation is so dumb desperate for ecred they lower our expectations every year and our players live up to it. These are kids and that’s parenting 101. We became a powerhouse because we had fan support. Even when Alabama sucked in the 90s they still expected 10 wins. Do your job as fans and support the team. We have the talent but they have no confidence cause every day they read here our fans saying the suck. Our fans are killing the program.

Riiiiight..

That's why Johnny Majors called us the Legions of the Misrable...

Some of yall are clueless as 15 year old blonde..

I hate the New England Patriots. But they have figured this out....how to get an entire roster focused on WINNING as the primary goal. They take other teams’ rejects and less talented players and make a championship team. Given, they have a great HC and QB, but it’s the culture they have created that makes them great, not the talent.

All the talk about talent doesn’t matter if we have players that have some other goal than winning....ie, went to Tennessee because Dad told them, protect myself from injury so I can go pro, get my name announced to impress the ladies. Who knows what they are thinking, but it doesn’t seem like we have a roster that is full of winners, regardless of their talent level.

These players' minds were so thoroughly poisoned by Butch and his stupid cliche wagon that no matter how good they were coming out of high school, they are ruined. You cant unteach garbage. I doubt there are many players at all that ever make it off the practice squad of an NFL team.

They also have unbelievable luck and tons of cheating.

Predicting a record isn’t beating the players down in and of itself. The players will always have detractors and likely have had to get to this point anyway. Their parents should have already taught them the dangers of social media and it’s the coaches’ jobs to build the players up and support them as a parent would in addition to their parents. You asking everyone on here to make everything positive is like me going to my sons schools and asking everyone there to always be nice to them because saying anything negative may hurt their future. If our players are that thin skinned we have a problem. I do agree there are boundaries though and with no consequences to what is posted I have seen people say things they would never say to someone in person. That’s the rule we should all use. If you wouldn’t say it face to face to the person about whom you are posting or to whom you are replying then don’t post it.

Exactly, every week of every college football season you see teams with only 2 and a couple of 3 stars play way better than us. No difference yesterday than if Butch was still here.
I disagree. Under Butch there would’ve been more penalties and we would’ve lost by more. That game wouldn’t have been 13-7 at the half. We weren’t great but some things were definitely better. We actually scored from a goal to go situation and didn’t have a penalty! One Spring and Summer with almost all guys he didn’t recruit playing isn’t enough time for Pruitt to turn everything around. Maybe he’s the wrong guy or maybe he’s the next Saban. The point is we don’t know right now. Give it time and we will see.
