WBIR CDT interview

I really don't like that CDT has been setting low expectations publicly and frequently. It doesn't matter what is or is not realistic. You simply cannot establish a winning mentality for your basketball team when you keep going around and talking about mediocre (even if realistic) goals and setting the bar low.

As I've said, I like CDT, but this aspect really pi$$es me off.

I've always heard it's better to be pi$$ed off than pi$$ed on :salute::salute::salute:

I seriously doubt CDT said anything close to that :salute:

What could he possibly gain by setting unrealistic expectations?

If you exceed expectations you look like you have done a good job. If you do not exceed expectations then you see a repeat of the way the previous regular season played out. Just because it may not be what some people want to hear doesn't mean it's not right.

If you don't think this is a common philosophy then listen to John Calapari or Rick Pitino talk about their teams in the early month of the season. You would think they are the bottom of the barrel.

Really great point. Cal knew he needed to temper expectations with the whole 40-0 chatter. He's been downplaying his teams since he's been at UK. Sometimes it seems to temper fan expectation and sometimes it seems to light a fire under his players to play harder or more like a unit.
