Way too early Athlon Bowl projection has Tennessee to the Outback

Outback is an 8-4, 9-3 type bowl...about where UT "should" finish. With that, I say let it ride. If it plays out as expected then UT will be there anyway. If UT manages to win a game or 2 they shouldn't then UT will be in a better bowl.

Does this mean you would take the Outback bowl?

Eh, I don't think so. The magic of possibilities, even when weighed against my inherent negativity, wins out.

I'd like to hope for better than another mid level bowl vs the boring Big 10.

Good to hear.

I agree.

No I don't. I have to see him do before I put in faith that he can take it up a notch or better. He has proven to be better than Dooley but that ain't good enough at TN. Got to get championship on your mind....starting with ATL

Saying Butch is better than Dooley is like saying a blow job is better than a sun burn. While true, it just doesn't quite do it justice.

I'll take it. Outback bowl with a 1st year starter at QB and RB, plus 2nd year in the new defense.

That being said, im very excited to see this season. This team has so much experience and talent. We have a rough SEC schedule. My first year as a student, can't wait til LSU and the student section, regardless of our record at that point

If either one of our quarterbacks turn out to be the guy we were told they were going to be when they were recruited, our offense oughta be able to put plenty of points on the board this year. Enough to beat just about anybody. Shoop's defense is going to have to have a huge leap forward for the offense to capitalize. I still can't wrap my mind around how bad the defense fell apart over and over again last year. That being said, there is a lot and I mean a lot of room for improvement on the defense this year.

May as well take our chances and let the season play out. Otherwise, what's the point of playing any of the games (win or lose) before the bowl if the bowl itself is a foregone conclusion? That would certainly make for a boring Fall.

I don't think we put a ceiling on these young men just yet.
Let them play it out.
