C.J. Watson was named to the all-tournament team at the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, one of the premier pre-NBA Draft camps, on April 8. Watson earned all-tournament honors after leading his team to the finals of the three-game event held annually in Portsmouth, Va.
Watson, who finished his career at Tennessee last month ranking second all-time with 577 career assists and 198 career steals, led his team and ranked third at the tournament with 16.3 points per game. The 6-foot-2 guard made 56.7 percent of his field goals (ninth-best at the tournament) and 71.4 percent of his 3-pointers (second-best in the tournament). The Las Vegas native's best game of the tournament came in the second round against Norfolk Sports Club when he scored 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting to go with three rebounds, two assists and a steal in 26 minutes.
St. Peter's Keydren Clark was named the tournament MVP after averaging 19.3 points per game. Joining Watson and Clark on the all-tournament team were Solomon Jones (South Florida), Jose Juan Barea (Northeastern), Steve Novak (Marquette), Greg Brunner (Iowa), Eric Hicks (Cincinnati), Akin Akingbala (Clemson), Chris Hernandez (Stanford), Daniel Kickert (St. Mary's) and Nick George (Virginia Commonwealth).
