What do the actions of Steve Spurrier possibly have to do with Tennessee's hiring practices? Also, 63-7 in Florida high school football impresses me a lot more than anything one can do in the utter wasteland that is the Tennessee prep scene.

I didn't hear what you said. Where did Spurrier hire Jimmy Ray Stevens from again?

And during most of that time, didn't Jimmy Ray have a Heisman trophy winner behind center?

How many Heisman candidates does GQ have over in Maryville?

When you explain to me what any of that has to do with UT's hiring practices, it'll be worth discussing. As it stands, it's about as useful as your 8,777 threads about Erik Ainge.

They've called the same number of plays on a college level.
You're right. Being involved with the programs at Miami and Southern Cal is the professional equivalent of running bake sales and washing uniforms in Murrrrvulllll. I mean, look at all of the blue chippers Quarles has recruited to Blount County.

The point is, that unlike what you've tried to lay out to us, high school coaches do have a history of moving up to be position coaches at the NCAA level in a major conference like the SEC. Even the OBC did it. But I suppose that it is beneath us to hire a guy that is right in our backyard that has won 99/100 as a position coach when he probably has had teams that have had more talent and still beat them.

I, as well, said kind of. Just point out the similarity that neither has called any play on the collegiate level.

OK,
what about Jimmy Ray and Malzahn?

Malzahn only got the job because he brought Mustain who was the gatorade player of the year with him.

I'm not saying he's a bad coach, but Nutt only hired him to get Mustain, Damien Williams and Ben Cleveland..

Maybe so, but Gus turned around and had an offense that lead the country at Tulsa.
