Deep in the first quarter and it's 0-0. We've had multiple ugly 3 and outs, bounced a field goal off the uprights after an INT by the defense, and had multiple late hits by the defense allowing their offense to drive. We had 51 yards of penalties in that first quarter. We looked a lot like the team that played against app state.

We didn't get better until the end of the first when Dobbs hit Alexis Ellis for big yardage, Kamara had a great run, and Dobbs scrambled for a TD. At that point we had confidence and continued to play better and better.

My point?
This is the same team this year, good and bad. We need to get all of our playmakers involved to be effective. We are prone to being ineffective and one dimensional. Our players also show a pattern of playing tight until they have some success. Despite all of that when we are doing all we are capable of it is beautiful to watch.

Dude, let Northwestern go. They're a mid-tier team from a mid-tier conference. This is a new year, new circumstances, enjoy it.

I am and have. My ten year old wanted to watch it and I was struck by how much bad football I had forgotten from the beginning of that game. It's easy to forget after a big win and easy to dwell on after a close win or a loss. I'd take your comment and say something similar about app state. Let's learn and move on.

My husband is a NW fan as he grew up near there. We watch every single game....another lesson in patience
