Watching it again, hit on JG looks dirty.

I have some ocean front property in AZ, no wait, I even have a lot in East TN that you can see the ocean's beauty. The lots are both valued at over a million but I will let you have it for half of that.
I’ll take it for nothing. How about that?

The hit was pure BS. I wish a UT player had kicked that POS in the gut after that obvious attempt to injure a player. If UT players had any balls, that lizard player would have been carried off with a broken limb later in the game.

I'm just taking issue with the conclusion that he was trying to hurt the guy. He's on the ground, scrambling to get to the QB in less than a second. Slowing it down to take 5 seconds is not a fair basis in which to judge it.

You’re the most partisan hack on these boards mall cop.

Why don’t you take your ball and go home like you promised too years ago.
Just something else you’ve lied about

I’m really getting sick of your crap.

This may have already been discussed. Did anyone see the one ref shove one of our players? I didn’t think a referee was supposed to put his hands on a player unless they were breaking up a fight?

I can’t remember which UT player it was that got shoved but I didn’t like it.

Definitely a dirty play by the Fla. player.

It could easily be penalized but calling it dirty implies intent. Judging that in slow motion is a stretch and makes it look like there's time to contemplate. In real speed it looks much less intentional and just trying to get to the QB.
Come on man. You're normally pretty level headed, but that was a horse crap move and it was clear he was trying to take him out. His head was down and looking right at JG. He knew exactly where he was and what he was doing.

It was, no need for that garbage in college football. I’m surprised that a couple UT lineman didn’t get their revenge, most teams do.

We didn’t get it for the hit on Shy so why do you think it will happen now? It’s also why it will happen to UT again. Guys are soft. We should’ve stood CC up and had someone crush his knee low. Tear that ACL to pieces. Then we would be even on the cheap shots. Then you stand over him and say VOL B!

Every time I find myself seriously thinking about it I see a post like yours and resolve to stick around awhile.

I think you want to find something to be mad at other than the current situation. Even Pruitt agrees with me that it wasn't a particularly bad hit.

I've agreed that it should have been flagged. But a real time view of it does not support your claim that it was dirty.

I’ll pile on. Refs failed to call hands to the face on big play, the hit in JG was blatant and should have drawn a serious penalty. Constant holding. Callaway was mugged, held, etc all game long. How much did gators pay these refs?

TV pays the SEC and the SEC pays the refs.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out once again that there’s no way you’re a lawyer.

You really think Pruitt is gonna come out and say something if he thought it was dirty?

We'll agree to disagree. He went low, it was dirty.

CJP did not air it in the press like Butch but he will remember and he’s pissed about it too.

LG...Watch the play in real time... then read the rule (below), then provide your honest opinion whether it was a violation of the rule.
The NCAA's Playing Rules Oversight Committee approved a new rule Wednesday that hitting a quarterback at or below the knees during a passing situation will result in a 15-yard roughing the passer penalty. The rule will go into effect for the 2014 season.
What exactly the rule entails, well, the NCAA explains that "the rule specifically covers a scenario in which a quarterback is in a passing posture with one or both feet on the ground. In that situation, no defensive player rushing unabated can hit him forcibly at or below the knee. The defensive player also may not initiate a roll or lunge and forcibly hit the quarterback in the knee area or below." There are exceptions, however. Namely that once a quarterback becomes a runner he's just like any other ball carrier. Also, once the defender is engaged in a tackle of the quarterback, the passing situation is over, and if the defender is blocked into the quarterback's legs.

I don't know how I can be any more clear. But I'll try.

Yes, it should have resulted in a roughing the passer penalty.

No, it appears to me that it wasn't intentional or dirty. He actually looks like he's trying to hold up at the end.

Thanks... missed your initial comments, I got caught up in the other crap. I agree with the roughing part... and fell pretty sure it was intentional as well. He was way to late on the play and unless he was blind, could see the ball was out.

From my review he's looking down for most of it. And as to being late watch it in real time, not slow mo.

Makes a difference.

We seem stuck between second and third gear. Has been that way for ten years. But that in a sense breeds complacency and the delusion that we are just a few fixes away from competitive again.

You guys are rebuilding your transmission from scrap, having burned it up when all the fluid leaked out a few years back.

I'm not sure which is worse

Once Pruitt tore into that fancy looking Allison transmission, he found out the previous mechanic used bricks and mortar to seal against leaks. Its fair to say we got problems that GMC cannot fix.

TV pays the SEC and the SEC pays the refs.[/QUOTE

My comment was meant as tongue in cheek. Should have used blue font. Officiating has been ridiculous. With film, SEC HQ should be able to admit their mistakes and issue a report card for officiating accuracy in each game. There is no accountability for refs throwing ball games.

He was obviously trying to hurt JG. The ball was long gone when he made the hit. This could have been a career ending injury.
This replay should be brought to the attention of SEC officiating officials.

I know but I was making a different point. Tons of money in this game now for SEC. Wonder if it ever comes into play if Bama is undefeated or a one loss team coming into the iron bowl and auburn has five four wins. Does it make a difference how the SEC refs call the game. That’s a lot of playoff money that could go down the drain.
