Its on YouTube. Dewey Warren, Bob Johnson, Paul Naumoff, Johnny Mills, Walter Chadwick, Richmond Flowers, Ron Widby, Charlie Fulton, Richard Pickens, Gary Wright, Austin Denney, Nick Showalter to name a few. Syrecuse had that tough Larry Czonka at fullback and their All American Floyd Little

Widby had played basketball the night before and performed the punting duties hitting high, long booming punts with the coverage swarming the punt returner. Syracuse played power football with the Tennessee defense gang tackling very quickly.

I like the jerseys used then better than todays and also like the dual orange stripe design on the pants. Ugly helmets, though. Was neat seeing Dewey Warren throwing to his receivers. I notice that passes near the receiver's body are not caught with extended hands but against the body. Fewer drops that way. Johnny Mills made some fantastic catches. Fake field goal with Warren hitting a 42 yard touchdown to Denney, Flowers with his olympic speed.

You get to see the old gasoline, car insurance and cigarette commercials, too. The Goodyear blimp, Chris Schenkle and Bud Wilkinson calling the game. Ahhh, bring back those days gone by and a higher quality of life!!

I watched it live, but haven't seen the replay in years. How did you like the catch by Mills in the endzone to your left that was called back for a penalty? I also remember Naumoff stuffing Csonka at the goal line, and Tom Coughlin playing for Syracuse. I had a Spanish Lab with Gary Wright and I played golf with him and Herman Weaver the next year.

That was one heck of a one-handed grab! The defense was quick and swarmed all over Syracuse. The Pride of The Southland band was awesome with their precision marching performance.

My first wife was in the Pride of the Southland beginning in 1968. Dr. Jay Julian did not allow imprecision in his band. He was tough.

Johnny Mills called on my business selling products from his business for years. I saw him every week. A bit of a smartass, but a good guy overall. LOL!

What did Johnny sell? What was his business?[VI
Greenhouse business. His primary product at that time was forcing and wholesaling field grown azaleas. He bought dug up, field grown azaleas out of Mississippi or somewhere South, potted them, refrigerated them to make them think it was Winter, and forced blooming in heated greenhouses. He and his wife, Carla later went into an overall retail greenhouse business in his hometown of Elizabethton.
