some people think we have a neophyte for a coach..."he shouldn't be coaching at vanderbilt..." or "...he doesn't understand the politics of the job... ."

how ridiculous. If you have a legitimate criticizm, then fine. But you don't know what he understands. You don't know his coaching ability.

I do know that he worked for one of the toughest employers in college football for an extended period of time. I do know that one of the toughest taskmasters in college football made dd his recruiting coordinator. I do know that dd left the comfort of the nest, and took on a tough job at la tech. I do know that he turned that program around not only as a coach, but also an an athletic director. I do know that i have heard few voices criticizms from la tech folks. I do know he has nfl experience. I do know he is a football man, from a football family. I do know that his father had plenty of chances to return to his alma mater (auburn) but stayed at georgia. These are facts of which i am aware.

Let the man coach.

I just hope CDD can prove a BUNCH of people wrong. I think we'd all be ecstatic if CDD could have about 24-25 wins in three years.

so you will be happy with on average 8 win seasons,,that's just not gonna keep his job.Three years from now anyone happy with a 8 win season? This year yeah I would take it.Three years from now it would be just a average music city bowl type team.

Isn't the UT property a state owned facility? What are the bounds on asking citizens to leave state owned property? None? Any? I could see barring people from the fall practices when the coaches are installing the offense/defense. All they are doing now is learning the players and other coaches. Looks like we've got ourselves a "coach double 0 Dooley"

Tell me you're kidding...please. Coach Dooley's Office is also "state owned property". You going to claim that you have a right to be there too?

Its going to be a rough 3 years. I'd take 7, then 8, then 10 wins. That's 25.

Then, in the fourth year, he would have the players he recruited as juniors and seniors. Sorry, but 25 would be fine.

I think that he's making it hard on himself down the road if he doesn't connect personally with the fans and the media in the beginning... if he had a NC under his belt, then maybe you could understand him managing his team like saban..

ask fulmer how much the politics of the job matters... it prolly bought him some extra time to try to turn things around...

You are definitely entitled to your opinion, and I have no problem with you sharing. We all don't have to be in agreement. But I do hope you(and all the other Negative Nancies) have the stones to stand up and admit you were wrong IF CDD and Co. are in fact successful. I am a UT Vol for life and I support the team and coaches--no matter who is here. That's just me and how I choose to be--I just hope CDD can prove a BUNCH of people wrong. I think we'd all be ecstatic if CDD could have about 24-25 wins in three years.

"Or he can go to CBS to commiserate with The Fat Fired Coach..."

"You don't have to worry about Dooley going to UGA. They can and will get a much better coach once Richt is gone."

"And I couldn't give a damn less what you or any Fulmerite thinks of me or my posts."

"He has no business coaching Vanderbilt, much less Tennessee"

"Yeah, all my anti-Kiffin posts when he was here prove that"

"It's hard to talk about football when we don't have much to talk about. Not that I care that practices are closed, because I don't, but just sayin'."

Question: Do you have ANYTHING positive to say about ANYONE in a position of authority at UT? Or are you just going to sing "we are the world" while the rest of us actually contribute something positive?

The lack of excitement over spring practice this year is amazing. Last year, I couldn't get enough, this year = lulz.

Thanks for the update though...

This time last year we were curious to see if Kiffin's Big dog mouth over loaded his puppy dog arse. That's why we were so excited last year

There's not much to talk about with spring practice until they start hitting.

We were watching through the fence and someone came over and asked us to leave because it was a closed practice. There were some recruits watching practice

Fiji will say they were Basketball recruits that couldn't make it to Providence so they came to FB practice. After all, Dooley doesn't recruit.

I'm not sure Dooley understands the political nature of his job....

You people are all aware that his father is Vince F'n Dooley, right? You think he's been living under a rock until Hamilton hired him? His actions are calculated, not oblivious. Why don't you just wait and see how the players react to him and how that translates on the field instead of whining about him not telling you how weight lifting and practice in shorts and helmets is going. Follow our basketball team for a bit if you truly have no life outside of Tennessee football.

This damn new coach doesn't care about us. :cray:

That would be correct. Nor shoud he at this point. Out of control message boards are not his friend right now. Let he and the players get acquianted without lurkers hanging on every word.

One thing is interesting:

- last year, Kiffin won us all over with his pressers, open practices, and publicity stunts, while the rest of the conference thought we had an idiot as our coach.

- this year, Dooley has turned us off with his pressers, closed practices, and media hibernation; while most of the conference thinks we have a good guy and good coach.

This is true. I'm a DD fan, but this is definitely true.
