Watched practice today...

I don't understand why so many people feel entitled to watching knowing everything and watching practice. Sure, it would be cool to watch the practices, but I don't see the big deal in not being allowed to watch them.

He had an opportunity to take his dream job, and he took it. Big deal.

I for one am glad he's gone, I wasn't talking about Kiffin I was talking about Dooley. That's fine if you don't like him, but your irrational and asinine posts about him constantly hardly make this board enjoyable to visit. That goes for everyone out there who does it. This board is so divided, and filled with people trying to get off the best one liner about how bad of a coach Dooley is that it's almost not worth coming to anymore. No one is really talking football, it's just one big argument about a coach who hasn't even completed his first spring practice yet.

It's hard to talk about football when we don't have much to talk about. Not that I care that practices are closed, because I don't, but just sayin'.

I do understand that, I'm just saying in general. We are going to have information to talk about shortly, I just hope this board changes for the better. Not that people can't dislike the Dooley hire, just that some better discussions take place; and we all can find the middle ground that we want UT to be successful no matter who the coach. I'm just looking forward to fall and seeing what this new staff does with the team, for better or worse.

I'm not sure Dooley understands the political nature of his job....

DD very well understands the politics of this job. TCWSNBN "understood" the politics of the job. He politiced his way into the fanbase's heart, they felt jilted when he left, yet he only went 7-6, something Flummo could have accomplished.

DD is setting the boundaries between the media and himself. They will play by his rules. He is a very intense person, a personality I would much rather have than some coach who claps all the time, or a coach who thinks he is so cool that he needs an apartment for rendezvous.

He is foused on winning. I wish people could appreciate that. Grow up, DD haters. He's not here to be Casper Milquetoast. He's not here to take you out to dinner. He surely isn't here for you to show up unannounced. He's here to win games. Come along for the ride, or step aside.

Totally agree. I am a first time poster even tho i have been following this site for years. I feel the need to post because of the divided fanbase. I dont understand people hating on Dooley. He took a terrible job and made it a competitive wac program. All you keffin lovers need to get over it. Dooley is our coach, Im proud of it, and there is another successful coach that closes practices named saban. Saban also trusted dooley more than any other coach he had at lsu thats why he took him to miami with him. GO VOLS

Isn't the UT property a state owned facility? What are the bounds on asking citizens to leave state owned property? None? Any? I could see barring people from the fall practices when the coaches are installing the offense/defense. All they are doing now is learning the players and other coaches. Looks like we've got ourselves a "coach double 0 Dooley"

go walk into the legislature building during a debate and tell them your tax dollars entitle you to be there. Or ask to sit in on a criminal interrogation.

Take Care.

I don't think you have to hate all the former coaches in order to support the present one. I'm still bummed Kiffin is gone, but I still smile at the thought of Fulmer being gone.

I also don't think we have to love our coach, but I do think we have to support him.

He has no business coaching Vanderbilt, much less Tennessee.

You are definitely entitled to your opinion, and I have no problem with you sharing. We all don't have to be in agreement. But I do hope you(and all the other Negative Nancies) have the stones to stand up and admit you were wrong IF CDD and Co. are in fact successful. I am a UT Vol for life and I support the team and coaches--no matter who is here. That's just me and how I choose to be--I just hope CDD can prove a BUNCH of people wrong. I think we'd all be ecstatic if CDD could have about 24-25 wins in three years.

Some people think we have a neophyte for a coach..."he shouldn't be coaching at Vanderbilt..." or "...he doesn't understand the politics of the job... ."

How ridiculous. If you have a legitimate criticizm, then fine. But you don't know what he understands. You don't know his coaching ability.

I do know that he worked for one of the toughest employers in college football for an extended period of time. I do know that one of the toughest taskmasters in college football made DD his recruiting coordinator. I do know that DD left the comfort of the nest, and took on a tough job at La Tech. I do know that he turned that program around not only as a coach, but also an an athletic director. I do know that I have heard few voiced criticizms from La Tech folks. I do know he has NFL experience. I do know he is a football man, from a football family. I do know that his father had plenty of chances to return to his alma mater (Auburn) but stayed at Georgia. These are FACTS of which I am aware.

Let the man coach.
