Watch out for Cincy

I don't think Tennessee's defense gave up 38 points to an offense Michigan shut down. I'd have to think we have a big advantage.

Just looked. Cincy's defense gave up at least 27 points to everyone except Indiana State and Miami last year.

Of course Tennessee will have more talent - that's why it would be an upset. Did Tennessee have more talent than UAB? UCLA? Air Force? Northern Illinois (2008)? Wyoming? Each of those games were either nailbiters or losses.
Not the point. There are some who work themselves into a lather believing that this should be a competitive game... predicting it to come down to the wire and such.

On a talent vs talent basis, it shouldn't be that competitive. UT's staff could get outcoached. Cincy's experience could make the difference. UT could make a bunch of unforced errors... but "on paper" UT should win and it should not be close.

Cincy has a good QB with some weapons on offense and runs a scheme Tennessee historically has had trouble defending.
Yes he's a good player who puts up better numbers vs better competition. He also lost 3 of his top 5 receivers. They also replace three OL's from last year. Their RB has similar stats last year as Poole vs the Big East instead of SEC plus Oregon.

The good news for them on D is they return 10 starters. The bad news is... they return 10 starters from a D that wasn't very good. Indiana St and Miami OH skewed their stats to make them look better than they were. Everyone else on their schedule scored 27 pts or more.

Cincy CAN beat UT... but they really shouldn't and it shouldn't be all that close.

How about the other way around?

Cincy played one ranked team. UT played four including the number 1 scoring O in the country- Oregon. You can look at the schedules from last year. They aren't comparable and UT STILL finished higher in scoring D.

This game gives me the same feeling as UCLA 09. I had such high confidence going into that game only to be let down. But this is a different team and a different coach ,and I don't think it will happen against Cincy.

4-8 in the Big east last year and you think they will upset us? I refuse to believe this game will be close.

I hope this works. Cincy mascot wrestled to the ground by the police for throwing snowballs.

Tech and (age) challenged.

haha. Had a friend represent him in Student Court a couple times, huge prick.

As for Cincy, everyone here is pretty high on the team. I'm more concerned now because JJ is gone. They're returning the whole defense, and experience will count for something. Pead is a good RB, and Collaros should be good. I think we win, but I'm concerned about the game, especially pre-Florida.

Last year they had a -15 turnover differential. That's really the key for them, if they don't turn it over and keep the defense off the field they could win the Big East. Once again though I still think we beat them.

They lost Vidal Hazelton, Kenbrell Thompkins, and Dyjuan Lewis. We lost our most talented DB. They lost three of their most talented recievers. We have no excuse for losing this game.

i agree that this is a trap game, but their defense is horrible. we win this game and build a lot of confidence going into the swamp

Really? Thompkins and Lewis are both still on the team. Lewis is a RS-Freshman. Their best receiver is arguably DJ Woods.

If we are focused for this game we will win. If we are looking ahead to Florida then it will be UCLA all over again.

We shouldn't be taking any team we play lightly. They better play every game like it was their very last one.

Agree 100%. I know CDD & staff will try to have them focused every game. Depends on each players maturity how that soaks in. Still, I think we win this game by 14 -21 points. We'd better any way to give all the young players some confidence heading to the swamp.

Been saying we could get upset in this one for a while..mainly because Collaros is a dual-threat QB who can really sling it, IMO he is a bigger, faster, better version of Aaron Murray and it is of course right before the FLA game. If we can get our running game going and limit their possessions, we win easy...if not, UAB all over again.
