Understand some things.

1) We almost didn't even have a season. Anything we get is a blessing....

2) Pruitt is not Saban. Or Meyer. Or Dabo.
We are a well coached team, but none of those 3 head coaches would continue with Jarrett after even 2 turnovers... much less 4.

Regardless of what you want Tennessee to be, they're limited by the intentions of the coaching staff. And this staff is good across the board but at the top, they can't make the tough right call.

Go Vols!
Beat Kentucky

Well when the QB is getting hit 2 seconds after the snap, there is blame to go around.

As for benching JG, IDK... how much of a drop off is there to the #2 QB?
wont know unless number 2 gets a chance in game...

same mess as last year.

does he have to fumble if he gets after 2 seconds. Can he not eat the ball so we can punt and flip field?

Out of curiosity, who would you start over JG?

We are undisciplined and inconsistent. We have an entire offensive line of 5* talent, and yet we can't field a competent offensive line. We have multiple QBs on the roster, and yet no true starter, or even a servicable backup.

That is not a well-coached team.

I'm not upset, I'm concerned. After that beating I'm not sure this offense recovers and plays well next week. The defense can't hold up forever against a struggling offense.

For us to close on the elite we must improve. We won't hold this class together or improve it with 5 wins. If we don't improve we look for another had coach failure in two years... Rinse repeat.

It’s not on the o line though. I know it looks like it and Wanya got abused but overall it’s because they played downhill and/or loaded the box because they were challenging JG to beat them.
Right but where were the open receivers?

I get it JG is a limited qb but we weren't winning any matchups at any positions tonight save the exceptions when he did get time to hit open receivers down field.

How do we know there weren’t open receivers without coaches tape? The TV broadcast only concentrates on where the ball is, which means we don’t know what was going on in the secondary when JG took a sack or got pressured.

Fair enough, I didn't see them but this could be right. But what I am sure of is many of those plays JG never had a chance to make a read. And one thing I can say about him is he isn't afraid to stick with it and take a hit when there's a play. But that's not what was going on, there was a guy on him before schedule and no qb can overcome that.

JG deserved to start. But he should have been benched.
Maurer would have been the next guy in...
I would have been ok with another qb coming in, what could it hurt? But I wouldn't have sent in Maurer, it would have ended his career likely. And the results wouldn't have been different.

Gosh. I dunno. I wish we had a guy in charge of recruiting and developing players so that if a player is mediocre, like he would, like, know that. And could, ya know, recruit a QB, or even, gee, bring in a serviceable transfer? Especially if you gave him like 2-3 years to get that done?

Maybe we should create such a position. We could even call it “ Head Coach”

We can disagree. UGAs #1 defense had breakdowns too.

Our QB was the difference in the game. His turnovers systematically destroyed the team the 2nd half. He began to lock on one wr again and couldn't process or control the defense with his eyes.

Blame the QB situation on Pruitt...
