Was the game-winning field goal partially deflected?

For anyone who was at the game or had a better view than we did, was the game-winning field goal ever so slightly deflected? It had such a flat trajectory and unusual spin that it makes one wonder.
I think it must have been. I don't know how else he could get that erratic rotation without it being tipped.

The Alabama play by play announcer said it was partially blocked

I thought it was tipped based on the change in rotation and it barely crossed. I think it was a solid kick honestly that would’ve been good from 50, but it’s odd that the CBS guys didn’t indicate that at all. I thought it hit #47’s right hand.

That's what I saw from replays

Looked to me like McGrath’s timing was off. He started forward before the ball was snapped, paused, then finished going forward and kicked. I thought that was why but if it was tipped, that makes more sense.

It was tipped, if you want to see it, go back and watch the view from the goal-post side. It's pretty clear from that angle.

No. It barely got over the cross bar from 41. But, we ain’t giving it back.

Correct 👍

Shouldn’t there have been a flag on the Bama player for launching over our player on the line?

Thankfully, it didn’t matter.

Lol. This isn’t a serious comment. They both launched over the gap between the center and guard. It would be a penalty to jump directly over the center.

Remember when Mark McGwire hit number 62 to pass Maris. It barely got over the wall. But it counted.
Just like Chase kick, it counted 👍

That's what I thought. Haven't rewatched it closely enough to know if the commenter above is correct that they launched through a gap.
