Was Jackson's hit clean?

Did Janzen Jackson show all out effort to help win or did he make a "thuggish" play?

Yeah we like our second class equipment. We do a lot more with it than thw army could. And we have a lot more respect from the world.
Sorry but the army has been loosing a lot of any respect I had for them. But on a side note. My prayers go out to those who were struck by the tornadoes yesterday. And my old base of ft leonard wood.

You are really an idiot. The same tounge in cheek jokes i've made to members of every branch on this board since i've been here, many of whom have become personal friends, and you come and say that my comment caused you to lose respect for the Army.

You must be in the same company as joevol, take care buddy.

Lighten up Francis.

Oh no jtrain. I've been on here long enough to read ypur comments. I laugh at most. I had lost respect way before that. I think the army has gone way to soft. I mean cell phones in boot camp. Seriously? What sop they can call momma before they go to bed everynight. Being on an army base where they train caused me to lose the respect. I'm cool with ya. I guess I should post more often so you get how I am. Sorry if ypou felt that way. My apologies.

Every thread i've read this morning has you telling everyone to quit whining. Well why don't you quit reading? Besides, I didnt know marines could read. I thought they were more like the space monkeys we would send up first before the important people went.

You sir are a troll. You evidently do not have a clue as to what we marines actually do to keep army brats like you alive everyday.

You are wrong. For believing anything you hear in the "rumor mill." The cell phone thing is not true

The Marines I've worked with have seriously lacked the mental capacity to serve in the Army. Now I know that's not all Marines but it left a bad taste about them

That makes no sense. If he can't defend himself, he is defenseless. Textbook definition.

If the textbook you use to officiate football games is Webster's Dictionary, then sure. I'm pretty sure we normally use the NCAA rulebook, though. Nice try.

Please do look it up. I can't add links on here but please do look it up.

I thought about it and received encouragement by PM but I'll leave it to the Mods.

might want to ask one of them then...I haven't often seen a mod on a message board just take a post - even an insightful and relevant, good, point - and make it into its own thread, out of the blue, without some encouragement

um...of course you mods on this board reading my post are awesome :hi:

(or you might create the thread)

I thought it was a penalty when I saw it live but seeing it in on tv in slow motion and looking at some of the still photos it looked like a clean hit.

Where do you come up with "you can't leave your feet" and "you can't launch yourself"? Every tackler has to launch himself towards the ball carrier to make a tackle. If you don't, you're not gonna make the tackle. It's launching then hitting with your helmet first, which he certainly did not do.
In fact, JJ made a textbook hit. Hit with the shoulder. A perfect angle tackle is made just like that.
There is no tackling with your feet (that's tripping). Chest bumping and arm tackling are strongly discouraged by coaches. What's he supposed to do? Lead with his ass?
I can understand fans not knowing the rule. But I'm pretty sure that the Big 10 refs know it. They just missed it.
If it's that important (and I agree that it is), then they should spend some "further review" time making sure they get it right.

I would not call that a text book hit, I would call it poor tackling form. He takes his eyes off the target and could not wrap him up. I think that is one of the biggest problems to fix, good form and open field tackling.

Not sure those things are all that important when the guy is three feet in the air.

Have the rules actually changed? Or are they just trying to "protect" players? If someone is afraid of getting hurt then they should not play. He did not hit him in the head, it was the shoulders and neck. Next thing you know refs will start carrying pretty little cards that are yellow and red.

If he doesn't launch then he doesn't arrive at the same time he did. Therefore enabling the WR to make a play. It's why baseball players slide headfirst, you get there sooner.

Thanks.... report or not report....

Everything was incorrect in the post I quoted. Jackson had to slow down, albeit briefly, to launch himself. It definitely did not help him get there faster. As for baseball players, sliding creates resistance, which slow the runner down.
