Was it too much ACC speed for our defense?

What a joke. There's as much of a coaching gap as there is a talent gap. The playcalling was the worst I've seen in a long time.

I keep hearing about the playcalling. What would you have done differently?

You're hilarious. This isn't on the coaches. We played horrible and we just didn't get it done. Also the coaches had pretty good gameplans but the talent just isn't there.

No it was we have not much talent, and they have a good bit. I was very impressed my Williams.

I'm not a Vol fan, but I liked the play calling. The entire game looks different if Moore doesn't drop that easy TD pass. Kiffin would have looked pretty smart right then, down only 27-21 against an opponent that clearly had him outgunned.

VT didn't do anything tricky or anything. They just pounded UT into dust. Wasn't too much that D could really do about it.

It was mistakes, mistakes, mistakes! You can be Usain Bolt and Carl lewis but if you screw up all the time you cannot win!

Right.

That's why the offensive line got blown up all night long.

That's why Denarius Moore dropped an easy TD.

That's why linebackers took bad angles.

That's why our depth on the defensive line was easy for them to push around like rag dolls.

That's why Evans and Rogan gave the Tech receivers every 15-20 yard post they wanted to complete all night long every time they needed a good pass play to reopen the run.

That's why Crompton looks like a punter handling the ball when he's under immense pressure.

Give me a break.

3rd and 19 running plays are awesome...at midfield.

also the face mask penality on 3rd down with them inside the 10 yard line.

The worst two plays ive ever seen:

The bomb before half to give tech 3 points and d. moore dropped td pass. Both were the most horrific things i have seen!

seeing your avatar and bad plays makes me think. How do you feel about Coach majors calling for punts on 3rd down??

The way our oline was playing?

Wouldn't it also help to have a little time to have receivers run 19 yards downfield? Crompton had what seemed like 1.6 seconds to throw tonight, better putting it in MH's hands than taking a sack, fumbling, or getting hit and throwing a dead duck for an INT.

You sir are correct, we just have so many moronic fans that have blamestorming sessions after any and every loss. Sometimes the chips don't fall your way and tonight was an excellent example.

Chips don't fall our way? No. It wasn't a case of the "bad lucks" it was a case of terrible execution, terrible focus.... allowing a WR to get behind our Secondary at the Half and the dropped pass are almost inexcusable. That's a difference of 10 points. Good teams don't let those 2 things happen. How many dropped balls did VT have?

We're all sitting here with no one in a position to be comparable to a NCAA coach (especially not a playcaller) but I felt the plays that were called (run on 3rd down and 12) and then a punt which resulted in a net change of 17 yards difference was pretty weak. We were in it with the #11 team in the country... way to tell your QB you have no faith in him.

Honestly, I don't know if a Fumbler coached team would have done any better/worse. This is the only game this year you can say that.

ok I get it, Ut has the talent to stick with the #1 team in the country on the road until 0:00, but they don't have the talent to stay within 23 of VT? UT has the talent to knock off good teams, with good playcalling that is-which apparently wasn't there tonight, along with the overall team just laying an egg

What good team did UT beat this year? That was a terrible call with Moore being wide open. More terrible calls when VT's O-Line was blowing the UT line and line backers 5 yards back. You have no clue. Keep trolling away.

I keep hearing about the playcalling. What would you have done differently?

For starters I would have like to seen more downfield passing since we had them north and south and couldn't outrun them east/west on the screen dumps.

Second, I would have ditched the off left tackle power run. It wasn't there and we kept trying way too much.

Third, someone needed to take out their whole D line. Way too much for our O line. We never had a chance to get in synch.

Other than that, typical VT defense. They were definitely on the prowl tonight. Don't understand how they didn't win the ACC outright. They did everything right on both sides of the ball.

GT will make some teams that are much better than they are look stupid. Nature of the offense they run. It didn't help that when we played them Ryan Williams had the flu and was on IVs. There were a lot of other factors that don't have to do with overall talent that went GTs way that night. The end result is having a bunch of annoying GT fans who think that Paul Johnson is God.

After that we lost to UNC, but that was your classic hangover game for the team and fans. The team looked uninspired and the fans were even worse. Apart from those two games we also lost to the best team in the country.
