Not necessarily. Back in my younger dumber days I got arrested for public intoxication and they did not charge me with underage drinking.

sometimes the lesser offense merges into the higher offense.....you don't see people getting prosecuted for battery when they are being prosecuted for 1st degree murder.

It's no big deal. Kids drink all the time.

I beg to differ. It is a big deal.

Now, whether he will face discipline within the football program is another matter. Murderers murder all the time, but that doesn't make it not a big deal.

im sorry that last line threw me off. did u just compare someone getting caught drinking underage in the same light as someone killing another human being?

This is a ridiculous statement.

This is not a big deal whatsoever. In fact it shouldn't even be newsworthy. He got a citation, it is nothing. I'm sure you never had a beer when you were in college... they are kids too you know and do have a slight life outside of football

I used an analogy.

However, many human beings are killed in this area as direct and indirect result of alcohol use, on a regular basis. Just ask a MADD member if they think it is a big deal. If it was your relative that was killed as the result of a drunk driver, you would think it was a big deal.

So, as I said, well there is a reason for the laws, and it IS a big deal. Check out today's local headlines. And yes, I know he was driving, but I still stand by my statements.

He was arrested. However you want to spin it, this is not a good thing for the program.

I believe he did.

The over-reaction to an underage ticket is amazing. Comparing them to murderers, suggesting they need 24/7 babysitters, etc.

He was not cited for underage drinking. He was arrested for disorderly conduct, public intoxication and resisting arrest. I guess I'm one of the few that haven't been arrested for the charges although I've definitely consumed my fair share of cold beer and jaeger.
