Was Carl Pickens nice?

I was at UT the same time as Carl and I crossed paths with him several times around campus. Although he really didn't know me from Adam, he was always very cordial. I could not say anything bad about him.

Before he was drafted, Pickens was taking a personality test for one of the NFL before his one-on-team interview. He looked up at one point and asked, "When are you guys picking?" The response was somewhere around 15th (don't remember the exact number). Pickens said, "Forget that, I'll be gone by then" and got up and left.

He went 31st overall.

This year Murphy's football team finally had a winning year
Finally had a winning year? Murphy is a powerhouse, it is consistently one of the strongest 1-A programs in North Carolina, and has won the state championship twice since Pickens left. They were 13-0 this year before they lost in the playoffs.

It's news when Murphy doesn't have a winning year, not when they do.

CP wouldn't have left when he did if he wasn't promised a top 10 pick. its actually pretty sad that he slipped to the 2nd round.

CP.

"Carl has been pestered so much, if he sees people wanting autographs he will walk the other way."

Unlike his tenure with the Titans when he would have paid someone to have the chance to sign his autograph.

Wasn't he Offensive Rookie of the Year the same season Dale Carter won DRoY? He should've been a top 10 pick. Actually, after looking at that draft, he was a top 5 pick. You won't find many players from the 1st round that had as good a career as him.

Also, it's not so much that he left because he was guaranteed a top 10 pick, he left because he had exhausted his eligibility. At least I don't think he went Pro early though I might be wrong.
