Section HH row 2, we was told to stay seated by 75 year olds behind us(who left in the 3rd quarter), in which the usher agreed with them and told us to sit down.

Me and my wife told them that we paid 150 for our seats and we would stand up when we felt necessary.
My wife 26 years old was told by a 75 year old man to sit down and shut up at this point I had to take up for my wife and said "Sir, would you like for me to talk to your wife like that?" his wife was beside him telling us to sit down as well and all he could do was stare at me..

I tried not to be disrespectful but isn't it my right to stand up and cheer for the Vols?

*on a side note some cool Oklahoma fans a row up looked at me and said we will switch seat with you guys and we will stand up the whole time" lol I thought this was funny and a nice gesture.

He shook my hand after the game and told us never to lose our passion that this was college football and he was impressed by our stadium.

We were in section W row 3 and the entire section stood the entire game. This was the only game we could come out for this year and I was concerned about whether people would be telling us to sit down. We were lucky. Stood and screamed for 4 hours (except when on offense!) and loved the experience (just not the outcome).

Sounds like you handled it just fine. I don't know why it's so hard for people to understand how standing and sitting in a stadium works. Stand on defense and big plays or when the guy in front of you stands. It's not complicated.

Should the usher tell me to take away my part of the home field advantage?

Big Plays and Defense we were up the whole time, I tried my best to stand to the side so the older people could maybe see around but sorry , I'm not sorry I didn't buy tickets (for a hefty price) to sit down I could've done that at the house.

I only sat down during the extremely long commercial breaks. Actually, I'm just now starting to get my voice back.

I can understand getting upset if you stand the ENTIRE game....but's a freakin' game. This isn't a movie theater or a play.

I've never had it happen at Neyland but I did have it happen in Nashville at a Vols basketball game at Bridgestone. It was the Oklahoma St. game and the old guy poked me to sit down 3 times and it was while the game was back and forth in the second half. The last time he did it, I turned around and yelled at him to stop touching me. I was younger than and probably wouldn't yell now, but that was very annoying. Plus EVERYONE was standing, so it was ticking me off he was singling me out.

our section stood most of the game---no issues with ushers. they need to get a special section for old people who want to sit down the whole game---maybe they can have recliners and offer milk and cookies at nap time.

All you can do is offer to switch seats with them so they can birch about the people in the next row.

This was the first game ever I've stood so much.. Our seats are in Q in the Terrace, back row so we weren't in anyone's way, if anything another friend of ours was doing his darndest to get people to stand.. all I got was a look from this woman- I mean if you don't want to be there then don't come!!! The elderly couple next to us left at halftime but that's ok... People on their phones, paying no attention to the game, sitting there like a knot on a log, not even responding to any play on the field.. Me, I was dancing, screaming, have a bruise on my wedding ring finger from clapping so much.. I don't understand why people pay huge bucks and sit there, at least react to something.. sheet!!!

You mat have been trying not to be disrespectful but you were. The 75 year olds also paid money for their tickets and are likely not physically able to stand for the entire game. It seems that today, many people have lost or never had respect for the elderly people in our communities. I am 76 and do not complain about people who stand infront of me, but I am much more active than many people my age so standing is not a critical problem for me. Rather than complaining about the elderly, show some respect for them and their place in our communities.

Guy behind me asked me to sit down and I told him if he wanted to sit to come back to Western Carolina or Vandy but I was giving my All today! He didn't say another word.

I've read here about people complaining about fans standing over in the chairback section of xx and yy, but never on the south side of the stadium. On one hand they may not have been able to stand for long periods of time, on the other hand it sounds like everybody was up and they would have had issues throughout the stadium. For games I generally sit on offense and stand and make noise for the defense.

There is nothing about the regular seating in Neyland that is designed for sitting.
However, if you stood the whole time, you're just being a jerk. The norm is to sit on offense and stand on defense.
