Warrior and Kongbo

Kongbo is bad never lived up thi the hype. I hope he does, but it's pretty unlikely at this point. Warrior had had some flashes in his time here. Pruitt may yet get that from him consistently. Im not writing him off just yet. He needs to show something soon though.

I agree insofar as he has played. However, the other guys seem to at least try to shed a block, while Kongbo clearly focuses on engaging his defender and wrestling to the end of the play, rather than trying to find a way past. I hold out hope that someone can teach Kongbo the correct priorities, how to shed blockers and attack the ball. He has the physical attributes, but plays like he doesn't understand his priorities. Guys like Barnett looked past the defender and knew what they needed to do. Kongbo seems to think his job is to lock up and wrestle with his defender. He never impacts the play.

Agree, "he never impacts the play" this is the definition of a bust, no?

Yep, you are correct. I hope he can learn, but he has certainly been a bust. No impact in defense. We need someone who understands how to play the game and the priorities of a defensive end / linebaker.

If you need more proof Butch 'butched' things up, just watched CJP's show where he made the statement that we had progressed 10x since he got here. That's a big multiplier and I don't think CJP is fond of bs or exaggerations, so yea, Pruitt had and still has a big with a capital B coaching job to do to get us competitive. He also said 'we're headed in the right direction', and I believe him and will continue to do so. I also think we'll see a lot of youngsters moving into starting positions as they gain knowledge and confidence and the team at the end of this season personnel wise will be quite different from the one we saw on the field yesterday in a lot of key positions.

Ya. So many of our recruits just haven't panned out for one reason or another over the last handfull of years. I was super disappointed in our teams ability to tackle. Especially in the secondary. That was terrible
Strength and conditioning has a huge effect on the program. Butch basically had none of that for a full of two to three years

The best players were on the field (3 freshmen) and you want to blame these coaches. News flash: gonna get burned some more! I hope they stay healthy and get all the playing time they can. Hopefully, we can recruit over them this recruiting cycle and they are backups next year. It's called progress and it's slow and painful.
I know: it's been "slow and painful" for the last decade-plus.

We should have a rochambeau contest with you guys and the subjects of your ridicule. I dislike the “you can’t do what they do posts” as much as the next poster but damn guys, they haven’t seen a real football coach yet. Give them a couple of games before you start telling them they are worthless.
Never used the term "worthless" and true freshmen definitely get a pass, but upperclassmen who have been in the program as long as Kongbo and Warrior should just be better and hopefully they will be in the future, although I have my doubts.

Didn't see Kongbo make one tackle.
D Taylor got some pressure but not quick enough.
Tuttle did ok but fatigued too fast.
We have to get into better shape here on the D line or it's gonna be ugly.
He passed probably over 350 on us.

Kongbo had 1 tackle and I think Warrior had like 8-9

He was named a captain for the game and “freak of the week” but seems like a bust.

Tennile probably got to be Captain for a Night and very well could have been Freak of the Week on multiple occasions, but that doesn't do any more good for the Tennessee football team than Kongbo does.

I had some serious love for Toni, I think she’s about 80 now. Still stuck in my mind though.

If I didn't know we had a new coach, I would have sworn that I was watching a Botch Jones coached team stumble through
another game. How many times does something have to be coached before a player figures out how to do what he is being coached to do or not to do?? We do have some experienced players----college players,as well as, fresh out of high school
players. For example, if dbs are freshmen in college and are lining up wrong, it is because they have been taught to line up
wrong in high school. They were just better athletes than the players, that they were playing against. So, talent won out over mistakes. I am confident Coach Pruitt knows how to coach it the right. However, I am just as confident that there is likelihood
the right way is going to be lost in translation.

Kongbo is like KMac. Needs to be on the other side of the ball. Probably couldn't catch but he'd be a good 2nd team jumbo package split tight end for looks when the game isn't on the line. This kid doesn't want to hurt no one.
