Warren dismissed (merged)

Tate is from a great town outside of middle Tennessee, Hendersonville, I think that we had a pretty good kicker from the same town-different high school. He graduated with my oldest son, great kid. I do not think that we were ever a serious consideration.

Corner of HELL?????

Hat hates Nashville...apparently we think too much of ourselves and are "Mullet City" even though I don't usually see all that many.

What is sad is that you got one player(qb) that is killing Tennessee football.Im sure other players are mad.If you are winning there is no problem. If anyone knows Warren tell him to transfer to Appalachian St.It only about 3hrs away.

welcome to VN

So we let GJ throw his fit, but not Brandon Warren, Kiffin is an Azz, His train is about to derail, He has clearly lost the team, Will not pull Crompton for recruiting points, that's BS. think about the new recruits coming in, that may never get a chance to play, if Lane has his pet at QB. They babied EB all through pratice, and now he plays soft while he pushed a 3 year starter, Mcneil, and cost him a shot at the pros. I was a big supporter of Kiffin, but his ego is doing him in. The recruits will learn that he will not help them in the pros, but will use them up till they can't go any more and will discard them.

No matter what you think of Phill, lane lost a game that Phill would have won.

I have to think Gerald Jones paved the way for this too. His outburst against Ohio was pretty dumb too.

You have to wonder if after that Lane told the team that if anyone else acts this way, your done? Anybody else think about this?

Phil would have this team 1-4!! You have got to be kidding me man. Lane will win.... and it won't be at the cost of any player. Apparently the Fulmer worshipers still exsist!

Umm, help me out, Phill had 2 loosing seasons, and how many was back to back. Never has the team fell apart on the field like it has the past 2 weeks with GJ and BW. BW was twice the receiver that GJ was. If he is gonna kick one off the team he needs to do both.

He didn't kick Brandon off the team because of his talent. Was that a joke?

You thinking we'd be heading for a winning season with Phil at the helm in 2009? Realize we'd probably be breaking in another offensive coordinator. And the team has absolutely fallen apart under Fulmer's watch. Brandon Warren being a ***** is nothing compared to what happened during Philipalooza.

You apparently slept through 2002 and 2005.

Dude, what the heck are you smoking. CLK has been here at Tennessee for less than a year and he is trying to bring a storied program back to life. He is working with no QB, a make shift offensive line, and very few WR. Phil left the cupboard very bare. This is all on Fulmer's watch not Kiffin's. It will take Kiffin several years to get his players in. BW had been in the "doghouse all year long. Warren was cancer. Kiffin cut him out. End of story. The sign in the lockerroom says " I will give my all for Tennessee today." Warren would not do that. I applaud Kiffin for this. You have to instill discipline.
Go Vols!

this is the most ignorant post I believe I have ever read!
We are all dumber for having read this.
Phil is the reason the team is the way it is, thanks to his recruiting. and if he was still here, we would be 1-4.

You apparently slept through 2002 and 2005.

And 2007.

Not to mention the "fantastic finishes" of 1997 and 1999...

And Phil's stellar bowl record against legitimate opponents...

If only we had played UK and Vandy six times each year...what things might have been.

Go Vols.

The only way to kill a tick is to burn it. I am glad this staff knows how to flush s*** down the toilet.

I always liked setting them on a flat surface and crushing them with a rock. Just keep pressing until you hear that "snap".

i guess warren will just have to live without the thrill of running down field and not having a football thrown anywhere near him.

i am not saying the way he behaved is proper.

but, i can understand where the anger and frustration comes from.

he was a freshman all american with dreams of playing in the nfl. now, he is on a team with crompton at qb.

You know what? Plenty of guys have been in MUCH worse situations in college ball. Those who are worthwhile will actually work to improve on the rest of their skills to make themselves marketable.

Irving Fryar had 67 catches in his college career but was the first overall pick in 1984. Why? Because he worked on his blocking and route-running for the few times that he would actually be used in the passing game. Keith Jackson was a tight end in Oklahoma's wishbone offense who had 62 catches in his college career; he too was a first-round pick for the same reason. If a guy refuses to put in the work necessary to become an elite prospect in spite of everyone else around him, that's his own fault.

A few years back, I had a kid on the sidelines come after me when I took him to task on his lazy blocking. He was strong as an ox and athletic as hell; if he had a work ethic he could have gotten a full ride anywhere in the country and developed into an NFL prospect. Instead, he got the typical offers for a lazy kid around here...the MAC and the low-level Big Ten schools came calling. He went to a MAC school, never started a game, and either quit or was kicked off before his senior year.

I like the statement Kiffin is making. This staff will not tolerate things detrimental to the team unlike the previous staff.

No, it makes me mad that GJ can get in a coaches face but BW can't. I can't see what they see in GJ, he's not that good. Kiffin has lost this team, we will see if he can get it back. He had better win and win now. I don't want to hear the crap about his 2nd year. Lets face it, all the people defending Lane are scared of offending his dad.

I have no doubt that we would be 2-3 or 3-2 under Fulmer at this point in the season.

The change was made because it became clear that a change was needed for Tennessee to get back to playing at a championship level. That wasn't going to happen in '09 regardless of who was going to wear the headset.

The test as to whether the coaching move worked isn't 5 games into '09, it will be 5 games into '11 or '12.

Do you know what was said? I'm willing to bet that makes a difference.

Kind of like the way that I didn't punish a kid for yelling at me on the sidelines of a game where he was continually getting chop blocked (and then flagged 15 for telling the official to "watch #58"). I did punish a kid for addressing me by numerous expletives and then suggesting that he committed, shall we say, "acts of fornication" with my girlfriend at the time (now wife).

Fulmer having this team at 3-2 makes me laugh extremely hard. He lost to a much worse UCLA team last year and he's lost to Florida and Auburn 4 straight times. And Ohio is better than Wyoming.

A born and bred Fulmerite, neither BW or GJ are worth having on the team. The thing that saved GJ was he went public the following day, I would think his leash is very short. As far as back to back losing seasons goes, this is CLK's first year at the helm, which points towards your Fulmerism.

Yea, I was honestly thinking Cotton should have offered 1-4 in that scenario before he offered 3-2

This is not last years team but some on the team are traveling on last years expectations and memories. The Auburn game had great symbolism from this perspective. At least Crompton got the team within field goal range in the fourth quarter. Some progress. From here on out it is trial by fire.

The UCLA game was winnable, so I counted it as a swing game. Auburn and Florida just put better teams on the field than we did, a situation which was extremely likely to continue under the previous regime.
