The Warren article in GVX seems to infer that FSU is all upset that Sykes retro-recruited Warren during Sykes' recruiting trip to Tallahassee and that is the reason they have denied the release. Anyone have amplification on that?

No more than what was inferred. However I didn't consider that angle in my initial assessment of the situation.

Since FSU arranged for Warren to be Sykes' host, I don't understand why they would have a negative reaction towards Tennessee. It makes you think that if Warren had leaned towards another schoool that the hardship plea might have been honored.

No matter which school Warren likes, I hate to see the kid losing (or at least impairing) an opportunity.

Agreed, especially considering that Warren was vocal about his regret as soon as he stepped foot on campus. I typically side with the school in situations like this, but I do feel sorry Warren, and the path that he now faces. Hearing the facts from him, I think this may be a legitimate hardship.

My sincere hope is that this is the situation that exposes Bobby Bowden for the absolute fraud that he is. He parades this gradfatherly image out for the parents, but he 100% does not really care about the wee-being and welfare of the players beyong the football field. Everyone on here knows that I have long been an advocate of showing Phil the door, but I will commend him for one thing, he is genuine in his love for the players. He cant coach to save his life, but I believe he cares for the players beyond the firld of play. Bowden is a joke.

Warren has no one but himself to blame, period

I agree he would have been in much better shape if he had finished out the semester. I also think that some of these kids and their families do not have access to quality counsel. Once these guys get in the recruiting grind, everyone from the HS head coach to their best girl friend has an agenda that doesn't necessarily parallel with the recruit's wishes. They don't know who to trust for advice on a very big time decision.

I also know from hard experience that when a parent has what is perceived as a life threatening situation, you just want to go home.

Mr. Warren is at this point for many reasons, I suppose, and he will just have to work his way out. I don't care if he winds up at Bama. I just hope he is still able to snatch a college degree and maybe an NFL career out of the mess. I also hope his mom makes a full recovery.

Bobby Bowden is a mean-spirited petty little man, Brandon's foolish decision aside, Warren should be allowed to be with his mom without sacrificing his football career. If the roles were reversed I'd tell Phil to release him, it's just the right thing to do.

He's enrolling at Pelp. State Tech. School and he's got to get 12 hours this summer or else he loses another year. He would have been smart to just finish his freshman year at FSU and at worst have to set out one year and he could likely be working out with the team this summer. But until he offically enrolls at UT, coaches contact him.

It was his bad decisions, I agree, but Bowden still made a bad decision in my opinion as well. I don't see a reason to purposefully hold a kid back. It's just senseless.

I thought the university granted the release and not the coaching staff?

1st FSU and Bowden said the only reason Warren was leaving was because of homesickness
now-they say he was retro recruited

The least they could do was get their stories straight and it to it.
