It takes 24 hours to make a day, but only minutes to go from dark to light.... I think Holly is about to finally dawn... I said it in an earlier post... Her next few moves will determine her future.... I like what I've seen

Good, I admire your spirit CJ.

I thank you, LVB

I'm going for a couple of days to GA College to see my birthday girl. 21 Today. Studying to become a Physical Therapist... I am a proud Dad!... 21 Years and we have never raised our voices to each other... I think that is what I am most proud of.

I believe holly has come to grips with certain things that need to change but lets be fair sometimes the girls played like there were ready to go home. they did not play like they did in the texas a&m game in the tournament all year if they had talent alone would have shaved 5 to 6 losses off./ but i do believe no one wants lady vols to be dominate again than holly warlick. so i believe there will be some changes.

I will believe Holly will make changes when I see it. I hope you are right, but she was simply out coached in several games last season, and not by outstanding coaches. I believe she wants to keep the LVs at the top but wanting to and doing it are two different things. She has got to change her antiquated offense. I simply can't believe that the players negative attitudes were all on them, the coaches must shoulder a portion of the blame. The good thing is a new season is coming, and the upcoming season should tell us, without a doubt, where Holly is as a coach and a recruiter. We need results and not excuses.

I agree i want to see it . However , players have to shoulder some of the responsibility. by being confident and taking shot . Also, they need to put in the work. like cierra and harrison and ariel did and look at what that happen. I agree that we need to be able to be more free on offense.,but getting the ball inside is not a bad plan but you cant get the ball inside if your guards can't throw the ball in the ocean.

The girls are, even as we speak, asking coach W for permission to work with their chosen summer instructors. By now, most have already been in contact with coaches who have either sought them out or been sought out by coaches who would like to contribute to the program's future. . . With the conclusion of spring finals, they will be in the gym. The girls will do their part. They didn't get to where they are by being lazy.,, And I am equally sure that the coaches are sitting in film-rooms breaking down the reason for the lack of movement seen last season.

The key to getting the ball inside is more than just outside shooting. it has to be, because when the team DOES have off-shooting nights, there has to be a second plan intact and familiar to the girls... When outside shooting is off, it becomes a matter of hi-paint cutters, that can curl into a spot-up in a blink. This is something the girls definitely have to work on this summer. They KNOW how to set the high screen for the elbow shot, we all know and have seen this, what has to happen now is proficiency from that spot (ala Bill Laimbeer). The spot from the foulline to the middle of the paint has to be worked. Cutting low and backdoor cuts are good for opening up outside shots, but high cuts open the post for the low feed. . . This is where the emphasis should be over the summer for the coaching staff.

OR if the person you are throwing to cannot cleanly catch and put up the ball in one move.

OR if the person you are throwing to cannot cleanly catch and put up the ball in one move.

There are three primary reasons for missed passes:
1) The pass is a good, well-placed feed, but the recipient isn't mentally ready to receive the pass and they're not expecting.
2) The passer simply makes a bad passing decision or an errant pass
3) Hands of stone: The pass is well-placed but the recipient doesn't have soft-hands and has never worked on "gathers"
-One and two are both mental, unless it is a question of bad mechanics... While 3 is purely mechanical.

If the pass is the proper one and the recipient doesn't have their head in the game, A little "time on the pine" can most often take care of this. The drill I would use for this is to put them into a passing ring with two balls. And let the ring, call out "pass" a fraction of a second before sending it, making the recipient have to catch passes from every angle, without having a ton of time to setup for the reception. . . . If it is an errant pass I would make the passer go through some basin passing drills and make sure it was purely a bad decision versus bad mechanics. Another angle I would look at is, "Is there proper communication pre-pass between the passer and recipient. I can do this by watching film and easily decipher what caused the bad connection. . . I teach my girls that the recipient's hand position dictates the pass they want. Hand down = bounce pass,, Hand out = direct pass and finger up = lob. (When the lob is sent to the recipient, it HAS to be as perfectly executed as a taken-shot. The passer has to "shoot" the ball into the held up finger perfectly.

The hands of stone thing is easily cured by letting the player do "gathers". Gathers are a drill where two girls get a good distance apart and may only use one-hand to "both, send the pass and catch the pass... The cradle hand brings the pass into the body area and then the cradled ball is brought into the non-receiving hand in an aggressive clapping motion. The passer will pass to the recipient using a wide variety of angles, methods and speeds, so that the recipient has to learn to bring in lobs, bullets, bounces, etc with one hand.
