War On Pot

Since VN is full of low IQ libs like luther, I'll try to make it easy to understand.

The marijuana kerfluffle is the first counter move against the Sanctuary State (California).

Almost everyone thinks that Silicon Valley or Hollywood is the big power in this state. And almost everyone would be wrong.

Commercial real estate is the power in California. They have used that power ruthlessly. They destroyed an entire financial sector--practically every savings & loan/thrift association--to avoid the consequences of overbuilding in the 1970s and 1980s, and they got draconian land use policies in place in the 1990s and 2000s to close out possible disruption from outsiders.

They like having a single party (Democrat) in Sacramento. They only have to keep one small group of political elites happy & funded instead of two.

But now they're looking at whole chunks of their portfolios being at risk of seizure by the DEA--including commercial office buildings as Big Weed begins to emerge.

The Sanctuary State is the opening fire on Fort Sumter. Going after "legal" weed is the Union blockade of Southern trade.

Either the Democrats repeal sanctuary state (which may be politically impossible), or the commercial real estate sector will see to it that the Democrats get removed.

(Given an existential threat from the people who can make or break the California economy, the Democrats MIGHT be able to undo sanctuary state and become born-again Trumpistas. This would be endlessly amusing to watch, if it could happen. But, given the YUGE number of misfits and communists in Democrat leadership, it's not the way to bet.)

Lol so you're saying this is just a childish move to get back at them?

Oh, it's now considered "childish" to get states to comply with Federal immigration laws?

What happened to "conservatives" belief in state rights?

And yes. Any power not granted by the constitution belongs to the states including the right to regulate drugs. That is not in anyway a federal power.

Supreme Court begs to differ.

Since you're so in favor of State's Rights, Alabama could just stop enforcing Civil Rights laws and it'd be no big deal right? State's Rights, ya know.

The same Supreme Court that claims DUI checkpoints are unconstitutional unless posted ahead of time? Lol "we have to have a reason to pull people over.....unless we tell you about it". There's plenty those idiots are wrong about and the use of the interstate commerce clause to regulate non interstate commerce is 100% an abuse of federal power. Idk how anyone could not see that.

Civil rights laws were one of the worst things ever for the black community. Yes, we should allow businesses to discriminate for any reason if they wish.

What grants the federal government the right to regulate drug commerce within a state?

There are lots of abuses of Federal power, but a State willfully flouting immigration laws is a lawless state and needs to be handled accordingly. It's that simple. Cry about "muh marijuana states rights" all you want, but this never would have happened if state's like California had simply complied with immigration laws.

lol I think you're a hell of a lot more liberal than you'd like to admit if you mock state rights.

You're mocking my belief in a state's right to regulate drugs within its borders. Which makes you a liberal. The dumbest kind of liberal. One too stupid to realize how liberal he is.

We don't want him and apparently neither do you so he is just a troll from Bama.

When someone claims "conservatism" (whatever that is) but starts making pro- centralized govt arguments, it smells like neocon.

Does California have the right to flout federal immigration laws? yes or no. Very simple. Obviously not. So what are your suggestions to getting them to comply? I'd offer sending in the military and arresting every politician there, but something tells me that won't go over so well. So in the meantime, Trump has decided to go after their most lucrative industry: weed. They are going to have to comply with immigration law one way or the other. They might as well just do it so they don't have the federal government coming in and seizing millions, or even billions, of dollars in assets. But California is full of morons, so they decided to go down the losing path like all losers do. Sad!

Let's start at beginning:

What is it exactly you believe is illegal that California is doing?
