A temporary spike in oil probably, but maybe a permanent cut off from cheap Iranian made drones because we are blowing them up.

I also heard that Ukraine is sending a team to the UAE (Per Englands request) or somewhere like that with cheap drone downing gear. Interesting times, who would have ever thought of that happening 3 years ago? Ukraine sending troops to help out in other parts of the world, because they now specialize in something.

these typically aren't tank vs tank battle losses. its tank vs literally everything else on the battlefield. manportable, various anti tank artillery/missile systems, drones, planes, helicopters, not that Ukraine has much of the last two.

I was trying to find a more partial article, but most sources put Russia down to having only a few hundred T-80s left, 500 or so. now some of the "lost" tanks will certainly be repairable, but considering the original number was north of 5000 combat ready T-80s, that is some really bad losses for their front line equipment. Their T-90s were always less than half of the T-80s, so they aren't a real replacement even assuming they hadn't faced combat losses.

it was last year, or maybe 2024, but there was a period where both Ukraine and Russia pulled pretty all tanks from all front line service because both sides were wearing out the actual gun barrels and it wasn't safe to keep shooting them. so even though its not a WW2 esque tank war they still see tons of use.

and of course the wonder weapon T-14 never really materialized. I remember was Ras was crowing about how the west would have no answer for that.
