War in Ukraine

Publicly, White House is really defending Putin at an embarrassing level but privately, Ukraine is striking deeper into Russia at its infrastructure than ever before and is getting more support.

Not a big Trump fan but I will state that one thing that I learned about him (notably in the Kamala election recently) is to not underestimate him and he often puts on a show in public but has ulterior motives.
Privately the Trump administration has been blocking Ukraine's ability to use western-made weapons to strike inside Russia.

The long range strikes they have pulled off, have been with domestically produced weapons.

Wow, Trump really said this. Says a lot about Trump's ideas about the rule of law and also his understanding of the basics of conflict.

“I was a little bothered by the fact that Zelenskyy was saying I have to get constitutional approval,” Trump said. “He has approval to go to war and kill everybody but he needs approval to do a land swap. Because there will be some land swapping going on. I know that through Russia and through conversations with everybody.”

Of course, Ukraine is firmly rejecting the deal:

- the land swap cannot happen without constitutional approval, and it's not a swap at all. Russia is not giving up any of its land, it'd just be withdrawing from occupied Ukrainian territory.
- strategically, giving Donbas to Russia puts them in real vulnerable shape
- Ukrainians don't want it
- Trump is undermining Ukraine's soverignty by not including them in the talks

@Septic here is Trump incorrectly saying Z got approval to go to war instead of Z is defending from invasion.

Given that Trump doesn't attend presidential security briefings, and the DNI has yet to find a method of providing Trump with intelligence information that he can actually comprehend and will actually consume, his ignorance is not surprising.

I think it'd be helpful if he stopped dick teasing aid and support. Being vague about supporting Ukraine emboldens Putin.

Why should Putin consider stopping his attacks if Trump keeps giving off vibes that he's going to shut down support for Ukraine every other day.

Art of the deal, my ass.

Thanks, I agree.

Maybe they could draw his security briefings on construction paper with crayons, or spell it out with macaroni noodles.

It's such a basic concept that he keeps effing up.

Is it more likely he's simply gaslighting his base so that there's someone to blame when he fails to negotiate a peace deal? AKA, "not his fault".

Apparently even making it look like Fox News doesn't help.

Just take the L and for once be a man. You haven't laid out anything but generalities.

You've been in here long enough to read the multitude of my posts that contain the information you're looking for.

You needing a refresher isn't my concern.

Yes I have read your posts and you have not once provided anything but generalities, give aid and more sanctions is all you can come up with.

Cool. Go back and search for the information you want to discuss, and reply to my original post if there's something in particular that has vexed you.

4 years of fighting with one hand tied behind their back, and it's only gotten worse in the last 8 months.

one hand behind their back? the only reason they have a hand at all is because of us.

them not having access to OUR full arsenal is not them fighting with a hand behind their backs. Their needs go beyond our willingness to fund/supply/equip. that is their problem, not ours.

Yeah let's slowly trickle in just enough military aid to keep Ukraine from being overrun, and then limit how far into Russia, and what targets they can strike.

That's definitely a winning strategy.

They have even been allowed to strike Moscow recently and have:

Both in March and May I found articles of Ukrainian attacks on the Russian Capital. That is with TRUMP as President. Tell me how their hands are tied when they can and have hit the Russian Capital. Your posts make 0 sense.
