Saddam lost that on the battlefield, and Saddam didn't have nuclear weapons.

Russia is severely weakened after this war. They won't have the strength to fight a war like this for 10+ years. Sure, Russia would love to get all the Soviet satellite states, but they'll never be able to.

Saddam DID NOT lose that territory to Kuwait. He lost it because the majority of the rest of the world kicked him out.

While I'm not advocating that in Ukraine, it blows your "Russia gets to keep it because they won on the battlefield" line completely out of the water. Nukes don't give a country a pass to invade whomever they please. That's ridiculous.

Russia is the same regional menace Saddam was and they have proven it when Obama let them walk into Crimea without an issue and now they're back for more.

Obama was weak. He let Putin do as he pleased. Trump should do better. Warn Putin that he doesn't get to just take land for no reason. Ukraine isn't a threat to Russia because they won't "fall in line" or they want to join NATO. Putin is just land grabbing because he wants an old school "Soviet bloc" of satellite nations.

Sure he is land grabbing, but who's gonna take the territory back from him? We aren't, the rest of Europe won't put boots on the ground. Ukraine sure can't, they don't have the bodies. No way to negotiate that land back, at least a lot of it.

So yes, Saddam lost Kuwait on the battlefield because he was hit with overwhelming force from many different nations. He was forced out. Russia won't be getting hit from others, so what Putin has taken, he gets to keep.

Sometimes I wonder if it is really that big of deal if we let Russia take these satellite states. Some of them have been a part of Russia longer than the USA has been a nation. We are only obligated to defend Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Those 3 are the only ones that should matter.

That's exactly why Ukraine wanted to join NATO. They knew Putin was going to land grab at some point and he would actually kill civilians to keep them from joining.

Why should the world let this kind of thing happen? Should we be able to start picking off little Central American countries and making them US satellites because we did in the past with the CIA and we can do it again? Shall we invade Cuba? Successfully this time?

We could but we shouldn't. Putin shouldn't either. Bully nations need to be slapped back so they don't get the idea that rolling tanks and launching missiles is how to get things done.
