War in Ukraine

Lol, Putin has agreed to literally nothing, other then to accepting Trump's invitation to come to America and humiliate him in person rather than to continue to do so via his proxy Steve Witkoff.

If they do a joint presser what cheap, amateurish trick will Trump go with? "Spontaneously" bash him and back him into a corner, a la Zelensky? Or the tried and true "I just happen to have here in my pocket the report on this" Powell ploy?

You believe Putin is going to negotiate in good faith ? There's this bridge you might be interested in ...

Do you have any ideas on how to end this without negotiating with Putin?

If not, you should accept reality. Reality is to end this war, Putin has to be on board. Reality is the best way to get him on board is to add military capability to Ukraine

I'd say the opposite, he'll extol Putin's many "virtues", and the close relationship he expects the US to have with Russia going forward.

He needs to be incentivized with something that both personally benefits him and allows him to save face domestically. Not sure what it is but he has to have a way out that isn't just giving up.

I'd guess the opposite, he'll pull another Helsinki and just openly side with Putin.

In order to do you have to do the thing you just opposed. You have to negotiate with him

Cut off the funding. The only reason Russia can pay for this war is because of Europe, India and China buying Russian oil and natural gas. Put crippling sanctions on any country purchasing products from Russia.

I fully support that. Trump has greatly mismanaged tariffs. We should be increasing rates on China and decreasing rates on allies. Give India 0% if they stop buying from Russia and help them make deals with Saudi or other suppliers

Those countries need oil to live. You think they're going to sacrifice

Putin isn't looking to end sh*t.
he messed up keeping this a hot war. if he had kept doing his "nibbling" around the edges of his empire, the west wouldn't have cared. the full blown invasion was too much, I think his early over confidence really put him in a spot where he can't stop now.

They need our dollars more
You can't cut off all the major countries from the global financial system, that would be reset and you would be running to the store to secure food for your family before road warriors start showing up. The U.S. is the top beneficiary from the dollar reserve system, so the U.S. has the most to lose.

Like a broken record all up in here.

Yup.

As a related aside, given what we have seen in Ukraine over the last couple of years, what do people think of Russia's nuclear capabilities at this point? Too broken down and aged to be a threat if it really came to that?
Even broken down and aged the threat remains. An errant launch still results in MAD.

We are India's and China's piggy bank, without our trade they go bust. Pretty much the same for Europe. Force them to stop buying Russian oil and this war ends.

You go bust without China and India, that's the system. Some sanctions and tariffs can be implemented, but not a cut off like North Korea or Russia. China can end the U.S. tomorrow - withdraw from the global financial system i.e. reset. We all go up in flames.

You're delusional. China goes bust without us.

Yes it would be very painful for the US but it would be catastrophic for China.
