War in Ukraine

Perhaps this...

If they truly have 85 co sponsors, a probable outcome. Putin is square in our crosshairs. India and China would have to cease and desist, leaving Russia with nothing. Turkey has been weening itself off the juice...

Senators tout Russia sanctions bill as ‘sledgehammer’ for Trump to end war in Ukraine

Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham and Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal are urging quick action by the US as Russia escalates its war in Ukraine, including the passage of a bipartisan bill they’ve introduced implementing sanctions on Moscow that they say could be the “sledgehammer” President Donald Trump needs to end the conflict.

The legislation, which would allow the president to levy a 500% tariff on imports from countries that purchase Russian uranium, gas and oil, has gained momentum in the Senate as Trump has signaled he will escalate US action against Russia.

“(Blumenthal) and I have got 85 co-sponsors in the United States Senate for congressional sanctions with a sledgehammer available to President Trump to go after Putin’s economy and all those countries who prop up the Putin war machine,” Graham said on CBS’ “Face the Nation” on Sunday, referring to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The two lawmakers just returned from Rome, where they attended a conference focused on Ukraine’s recovery and met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and other European leaders. Blumenthal said European allies expressed to the lawmakers that any potential US sanctions would “have to be tough and rigorous to change behavior.”

And yet, just 60 days ago the GOP at Trump's direction insisted this was not our fight. Sure seems like a 180 to me, by Trump and by, at his behest, the GOP Congress. Do they have to check with him when they go pee, too? Get permission?

Lol. TDS.... YOU CAN GET MEDA FOR THIS

The United States has basically cut off Russia from the vast majority of the global financial system years ago. What exactly is the tariff going to be on exactly?

The tariff today is infinite rate.

The Orange Man owns this and owns the Epstein stuff at this point.

I listened to his press conference on this in the morning. He seemed genuinely bewildered by the fact that he'd get on the phone with Putin, Putin would be amiable and seem interested in making a peace deal ... followed by drone and missile attacks on Kiev that very night. Happened a number of times, he said. And this is why Trump is changing course.

I applaud Trump for coming to the realization that Putin has been playing him this whole time when it comes to Ukraine, and that he cannot trust anything Putin says. I am surprised that he took this long to do it and insisted for so long -- in the face of all of the evidence and his own people telling him he was wrong -- that he had some sway over Putin.

Not sure if serious at this point, it would seem like the Russian's concerns will have to addressed or things will continue. Nothing of real value has changed in 3 years, I think the hope of Trump stopping all this is gone. He owns this mess, everyone is all in - Putin isn't playing anyone he is saying exactly what they plan on doing.

The only confusion is Trump's reversal to start with, but at this point its mostly irrelevant, he owns it.

Ohh please..you and others thought there was a pee tape and Putin puppet.

He still believes it....

I have my suspicions but admit there's no evidence specifically of that at this point.

THERE IS, however, undeniable evidence that Putin preferred Trump over HRC and so at least some Russian assets and information were deployed to help Trump win. At absolute best, Putin recognized Trump's naivete and believed (correctly for a time) that he could manipulate Trump through appeal to ego. It is not necessary to evaluate the worst possible reasons for it because Trump is lame duck.

does anyone know how this system wll work?

The US government doesn't make any weapons. yet alone the ones they sell.
so does the US government buy the weapon from a US source, either new or from a while ago, and then turn around and sell that?
or does the US government just ok the sale from US manufacturers straight to NATO/someone else?
do they have some sort of middle man mark up?
Is this just surplus arms manufacturing? does it coincide with our orders for any of the same weapon systems?

There's undeniable evidence that he preferred Sanders over Clinton too. And helped him as well. Maybe it's a Hillary issue, for Putin, as supposed to everyone else.

So Putin isn't a complete idiot then.

where is this undeniable evidence?

this should be pretty easy for you to back up since its "undeniable".
