War in Ukraine

How A Tiny NATO Country Went Rogue & May Prevent War With Russia | ZeroHedge

We now have a preliminary answer, thanks to Croatia's President. "Croatia will not send any troops in case of an escalation," said Zoran Milanović. "On the contrary, it will recall all troops [from NATO], to the last Croatian soldier!"

This is notable, because it isn't coming from a Euroskeptic with a history of picking on NATO. Milanović is a member of Croatia's center-left Social Democrat party, which is strongly pro-European. But even many sympathetic to Europe want no part of conflict with Russia.

Mr. Milanović went further, and made two points that are almost universally banned in the West.
1. He pointed out that the Ukraine conflict is happening on Russia's door step
2. He said that NATO "must reach a deal that will take account of the security interests of Russia."

These points violate the Western orthodoxy on the Ukraine conflict. It is forbidden to recognize that Russia may have legitimate security interests. It is anathema to propose reaching a diplomatic solution instead of fighting a proxy war.

Exactly. Russia can mobilize and deploy troops without too much worry. Ukraine can’t do that: they mobilize too quick it puts a strain on a weak economy and second once they do the Russians are immediately going to be screaming they are planning an offensive and Mother Russia must protect its people in the Donbass.

I wonder which narrative will break down first: The left's narrative about COVID or the neocons narrative about Russia/Ukraine?

Five Killed After Ukrainian Soldier Goes On Military Factory Rampage

A Ukrainian soldier is suspected of having killed five people and injured five others when he opened fire in a military factory, the country’s interior ministry said Thursday, the New York Post reported.

The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Artemiy Ryabchuk, a member of Ukraine’s National Guard, was detained after the attack on the state-owned machine-building factory, the NYP reported. The dead included four soldiers and a worker at the facility.

I guess at this point we're in "wait and see" mode.

We're seeing medical and logistical elements being brought up now and now troops are following on as well. We're getting pretty close I think if Russia is going to make a move or not. Again I don't think its a bluff with the amount of equipment they are railing across Russia.

Oh really? Should I calm down or should you and Biden calm down?

Ukraine's President Tells Biden To "Calm Down" In Phone Call | ZeroHedge

CNN and mainstream media in general have of late seemed intent on hyping and stoking tensions to the point of armed conflict.

The "long phone conversation" with Biden was Zelensky's second one this month. Again, compare the low key statement of Ukraine's president himself with what Biden reportedly said to him concerning the "level" of the threat, supposedly with Kiev itself in the crosshairs...

Crazy that Biden is telling Zelensky what's going to happen rather than the other way around.

Given Biden's predictions about Afghanistan I'd say Zelensky got no input of value

What do you want Zelensky to do? Get on Ukrainian TV and say the end is at hand and that you should all kill yourselves before the Russians get you? He has to project some measure of calm to prevent mass hysteria. I also don't think he is equipped to deal with this. Poroshenko would have been a better leader to deal with this.

This does absolutely nothing to disprove my statement.

No no no... this isn't his public position. This is what he has been conveying to Biden...

And I missed this. You mean the Poroshenko that is in a legal bind right now?

I was just commenting on how Biden is the one saying Putin is gonna make a move.

Which a lot of people say are politically motivated witch hunts but truthfully I haven't really looked into it.

I meant that more for Ras.

Well first off, you say "regional hegemony" and then rattle off countries on 5 continents. Sounds like a "global" hegemony.

Second, when any other country tries to establish regional hegemony and that country is not one of our allies, we quickly label them an enemy or threat to the region. That's ridiculous.

You seem to be projecting... assuming that these other countries would do the same thing to us that we usually do to countries that don't side with us. Yet as far as I know, the United States is the largest proponent of sanctions, embargos or other anti-commercial actions on the planet. Not saying that other countries don't do it either. I'm saying we are the largest country... and it isn't even close.

We have a very wicked, superficial, nihilistic and destructive culture that is eating us alive in this country right now. Many countries are pushing back on this American culture that has gained traction over the last 2-3 decades.

We are not just enslaving the world with our fraudulent USD system and global military, but we are also enslaving our own people with those same tools.

You need to get out more and see the world. In business meetings with countries all over the globe, they want to trade and work with USA. I have meetings with people from Turkey, Germany, Belgium, France, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, etc. They are all concerned about Chinese aggression, and not the USA.

They admire our culture and are smart enough to realize that our culture is not defined by social media which is full of the dregs of our society and, in reality, not a true vision of America despite its attempt to depict itself that way.

Honestly, do you think you are more intelligent than me or people on this board? Set in the mirror and ask yourself that. Do you have the world experiences that I do? Do you think you are smarter than people in the Pentagon, State Department, etc.?

You sure act like it. You act like the entire world is idiots and you are the one person that knows all of the truth. Perhaps sit down and consider that for a second and maybe consider the possibility that most of what you are spouting out is wrong, perhaps.

Look RAS and I rarely agree. But shouting at someone, why don't you realize I am smarter then you, is a terrible approach to engaging in conversation.

I constantly self-evaluate and I have modified my thinking a lot over the last 10-15 years. I was probably in line with most of the board and the majority of people in here until around 2008. Really got my first sense of doubt before then when we invaded Iraq the 2nd time but was perplexed during the economic crash in 2008.

I admit that I have not traveled as extensively as probably you or others, but I have met plenty of people from different backgrounds and cultures just in regular life. I also have an interest in learning about cultures. One thing I do know is that we generally all have a lot more in common with each other than what the media or neocons would have you believe. Their main goal is pushing division and forcing a wedge amongst people.

I think you are upset because I am different because I don't believe this country is going in the right direction by remaining a militaristic police force that inserts itself into regional conflicts across the globe. I don't think that domestically, we have a system that gives a damn about average Americans and only sees us as sheep to fleece.
