Tuesday, Washington Post columnist and MSNBC contributor Eugene Robinson referred to President Donald Trump’s supporters as “members of a cult” that he says need to be “reprogrammed.”

Robinson, on “Morning Joe,” asked New York Times writer and 1619 Project” creator Nikole Hannah-Jones how to start and complete the “process” of deprogramming the Trump supporters.

“[T]he difference between the white citizens’ councils and the Klan back in the days of Jim Crow, and you know, Klan was lower-income, white citizens’ councils were the Josh Hawleys and Ted Cruzes of their day. But so, here’s the situation, though. … There are millions of Americans, almost all white, almost all Republicans who somehow need to be deprogrammed. It’s as if they are members of a cult, the Trumpist cult, and they have to be deprogrammed. Do you have any idea how we start that process, much less complete it?” Robinson asked.

“I don’t. I’m a journalist. I don’t know how we can stop people,” Hannah-Jones replied. “I know we can look to history, though. What ultimately breaks that power structure in the South is enforcement, right? There has to be consequences. And then once you get those consequences, I think people have to take a second look at their actions. And they have to be much more afraid to do the types of kind of violence that we saw last week.”

It's incredible how it never dawns on them to step off their elitist perch and consider that Trump wasn't just a result of racist simpletons. Trump needed a whole lot of help from an opposition that got emboldened and pulled way too hard to the left.

So much for the unity of the nation. Think like us or else. SMH.

WaPo is right, of course.

Anyone who still believes that the election was "stolen" from Trump has mental issues. If you believe this, you have been brainwashed, plain and simple. Alternatively, you have always been a dim bulb, and simply remain ignorant. Or possibly, you simply don't *want* to accept the reality that Trump lost.

I'll stand toe to toe to any of you numbskulls to debate the issue, because you are simply *incapable* of doing so. You live in a world of innuendo, rumor and conspiracy theory.

So, yes, reprogramming people who've been brainwashed is a real thing, and if you're one of the *deplorables* that remains a Trump Truebeliever, line up for it. ;-)

Don't wanna face reality? Then take your seat at the back of the bus, and just enjoy the ride because the adults will be back in charge on the 20th.

What about the Democrats who still believe, despite any evidence, that the elections in 2000, 2004, and 2016 were stolen? Do they need to be reprogrammed?

The socialist progressives just don't get it. It isn't about Trump, AT ALL! It is about being against the very thing they are preaching. Trump just happened to be the guy to capitalize on those ideas. There will be a backlash and even harder swing away from the left if any of their threats materialize with adults. Kids in school unfortunately are lost. Their was is not THE way, it's A way.

Whataboutism 101.

Did they stage any insurrections? Storm the capitol?

That's what I thought.

If you believe the election was stolen, and you believe violence is the appropriate response, then YEP, reeducation is obviously a potential solution.

Imagine for a second if a conservative columnist had made these suggestions.

Not whataboutism, I’m just curious who gets to decide who needs to be “reprogrammed.” I like how you moved the goalposts. At first it was if you believe that the election was stolen you need to be reprogrammed. Then all of it sudden, once it was pointed out to you that Democrats still cry about the last three elections that they’ve lost being stolen, you had to add on the caveat that only if you believe violence is the appropriate response you need to be reprogrammed.

Because leftist brains can only focus on a single shiny object at a time.

Sort of related, there was a study conducted somewhere once that people became more open to immigration and other cultures and believed less in God when parts of their brains were "shut off" with magnets. What does that tell you?

Anyone that thinks violence isn't a built-in option in our republic needs to go back and read our founding fathers.

Besides, elected officials ought to fear the people. But I ought not have to fear that some idiot is going to burn down the business that is my livelihood.
