Sony offically delayed the European launch of the PS3 yesterday by 4 months. Their estimates for production were cut. Their estimate of 4 million by end of the year was cut in half.

Estimates now are 400,000 units for North America and 100,000 units in Japan come November.

Just for comparision, 360 sold 350,000 last November in North America. So, it's pretty much going to be exactly the same with the PS3 as it was with the 360.

I think most will agree demand for the PS3 is much higher so it's going to be harder to get one anytime soon.

Just a heads up for anyone around here wanting one. Get in good with a store employee, start saving money, or be ready to camp for a day.

I'm just going to buy one of your extras as I'm confident you'll have 6 or 7 on release day.

damn, they are waiting Four months to do it over here?

The base just north of here has a good post exchange, they will get some, but it might be a month or so after. You can get them online can't you?

If you're in the right place at the right time, or you have extra money. I remember lots of places that sold 360s online and each one sold out in minutes.

They wont be PAL, though. No PAL machines will be out until they launch in March in Europe.

So when can I start throwing this back in the faces of all the PS3 fanboys that were crawling on Microsoft for not having enough at release?

Just to be clear, xbox360s sold to date, over 2.2 million. PS3s sold, just under 1.

Good luck. Without paying over retail, wasting a day in line, or buying some big bundle online you wont have a PS3 for awhile.

Also, if that's true, you should consider buying some and putting them on ebay, craigslist, etc. I was selling 360s up until Christmas eve for a good return. Paid for mine and made another grand to boot. People were paying $650 no problem the week leading up to xmas.
