Looking at the latest odds for TN’s and FL’s next coaches a couple of things I wonder…
1. Why are Chip’s odds better going to TN than FL?
2. Frost is not on our list, but he’s #2 on FL. Do we have not shot?
3. Petrino is #3 on our list but not on FL’s? Due to the initial rumors he’d go here? Why wouldn’t this apply to FL?
4. Norvell is push to both, although rumors have said he’s either their #1 or #2 on their list. If isn’t tops on ours, why not?
5. Why would Fleck, Miles, or Brian Kelly, not be on FL’s list? Why would Gundy, Campbell, Babers, or Strong not be on ours?
6. If you had to place a considerable sum of money on the next coach at both schools would you take someone on this list or the field?

Frost is just like Kiffin. He will leave as soon as the Nebraska job, his dream job comes open. Do not want that.
Chip Kelly will depleat our roster to make it smaller and faster. Then in two or three seasons, he will leave. And our roster will be too small to be competitive in the S.E.C. unless we stick to the Chip Kelly gimic offense. It will take our next coach 7 years to recover from any Chip Kelly debacle.
Petrino is a good coach but his age worries me. How long would he stay at U.T.???

I still think that if we don't make a bowl game, then bUTch will be fired and we hire Mike BoBo from Colorado State. He would be about our 10th choice on our wish list. We seldom get our dream coach or anywhere near our dream coach.
We got Major's & Fulmer, who were both our top choices though.
Should buTch make a bowl game, then he will be our coach next season also.
IF they won't fire Holly, then I am sure they won't fire bUTch UNLESS we miss a bowl game.

Strong is not on our list because he didn't do well at Texas.
Gundy is not on our list because he is not interested in Tennessee, he only wants to use leverage to get a raise at his current school.
Les Miles is lucky with a talented team at LSU but his luck ran out.
Gruden won't take a pay cut to come here. Money from Monday Night Football and also commercials and also q.b. camps. He won't leave the booth.
Randy Shannon is a shoe salesman.
Tennessee won't have egg on their face and look desperate by hiring Kiffin.
Stoops won't come out of retirement.
Petrino is too old to likely stay very long.

because it appears Frost or Mullen are the two many think are headed to Gainesville.

what's more concerning to me is that Frost isn't even rated for TN. and Mullen seems like a real long shot.

but, remember, just trying to get Joe q. public to put some money down.

Yes...Strong such a long shot as well...apparently the odds makers don't think he's leaving USF after this year.

I wouldn't read too much into the gambling odds. People think Vegas is great at predicting things, but what Vegas is actually great at is making money. Odds are adjusted based on what people are betting for. That's how casinos make money. If a bunch of morons walk in and bet that Gruden will be the next Tennessee coach because they read 80 gazillion posts on a message board about it, Vegas will take their money, and they will adjust the odds to hedge their bets, so that they will make money regardless of the outcome.

The "collective betting masses" are reasonably good at predicting outcomes of sporting events, but have a really terrible track record at predicting infrequent events, such as Presidential primaries and head coaching searches. So I'd put absolutely zero stock into any of this.

So you'd say more likely the "field" than any of these guys that are sitting at <1000 end up at the school? I mean there are going to be lots competition for coaches.

The Nebraska job will likely come open at the end of the season like us. So Frost will have his choice of Nebraska, Florida, and here. If he chooses us over them we have nothing to worry about.

Please get Petrino off any and all future posts. Just read his bio. The guy is nuts and leaves everybody pissed. Leave him at Louisville. Not worth any discussion....

Because Florida has a vacant coaching job so lists are actually out there for who they want. We don't and most are just speculation. I'm sure we have a list but without an opening, it ain't getting out. Jmo

Guarantee Currie has not given Vegas a list of coaches he might go after, IF, Tenn had an opening. Doesn't matter who is on the TN list or Fl list. Just speculation

gruden........soon

Gruden will Not be TN's Coach. I really feel that he would not win in the SEC. Charles Strong had a terrible run at Texas and was fired. Frost would be high on the list but not sure they could get him. I honestly feel TN will hire a middle level coach that no one would hire. They will go cheap and we won't be any better off.

Take the odds on the coach with the least amount of Power 5 experience. That way UT's admin can leverage them to take on Shoop's contract to avoid a buyout.

We’ve been running Chip Kelly’s offense...a not as high tempo/scoring/productive version of it....but RPO/Zone Read/Dual Threat QB lead us to the most points in a season with a decent OC and Dobbs....Chip Kelly would of had Dobbs in the Heisman race. Just because you don’t like him for whatever reason don’t undermine how brilliant of a College HC he is. Also he left for a shot at the NFL...cannot blame him for that. He’d win big here and he wouldn’t recruit tiny players here...that’s just stupid to even think.

Honestly, who will be left once Florida, Auburn, Texas A&M, Arkansas, Missouri, and Ole Miss all hire their coaches before Tennessee decides to act?

That is part of UTs problem in hiring new head coaches, not allowing the new HC to select his assistants. Think Cutcliff several years ago.
