That's a helpful article for recruiting. True, and good for the program's image. With any perspective at all, VFLs should honor Butch for what he's done for us. We are once again an honorable program, attracting very good players who are true student-athletes. All that's left to accomplish is getting us above the "Honorable Mention" level of bowl participation.

Of course, it's not lost on any of us that the WSJ ran the story now, before we begin the gauntlet of ranked SEC powers. They, fairly, figure there might not be anyone interested in reading that by October.

Finebaum says this is one of the biggest games in UT history. Shouldn't be, but it sure feels like it, doesn't it?

If people would quit subscribing to these websites, they would have no choice but to drop their money grab. Their ad revenue is based on the number of hits, and they could more than make up their subscription fees with increased ad pricing (due to more hits). Nationalchamps.net (the best non-partisan based college football site on the web) tried to charge for viewing a couple of years ago. No one took the bait, so they had no choice but to open their site back up. Never underestimate the power of the marketplace.

From 30,000 feet, it's not.

But by the nature of this fan base and the way coaching works in the SEC, it could determine whether or not Butch will crash and burn (due to lack of fan and booster support) or whether he can keep the talent to compete for championships.

It's a game. But the way the script has been written, it's THE game.

FYI: WSJ is not sold at Waffle House, and 98% of VN regulars are either too lazy to find it, too cheap to buy it, or both.

So, if you are gonna bring it to our attention, link us to the full shabang, or don't waste our freakin time. Coffee and danish in the AM? You wussy!

The reason it's the most important game of Butches career and one the most important games in UT history is because if Florida wins this, they will have (what I believe) is the longest win streak in the history of colllege ball. 😳

Do what?? 12 wins won't sniff the longest win streak in the history of college football no matter how you slice it.

Correction. I had to go look it up and the longest win streak is actually 40 something games but Gawd bless it it feels like the longest. Certainly the longest I knew of and probably the longest in SEC play.
