Wait til Next Year?

I agree, some of these fans have no idea of what they are talking about. This program can not be truned around over night or in 8 months or 2 years. The team was left in very poor shape and it will take time, 2 YEARS IMO before Ut can be competive again. With that said. GO VOLS!

Dang, and all those that thought Tenn was COMPETITIVE with Fla were full of it.

Can someone say what is Kiffin's stratagy for QB this season and next? I mean why would you keep Crompton on the field? why not give Stephens a chance? at least rotate them in series......

I will say it again....Kiffin, did not make the effort to try and keep Coleman as an alternative, becasue he already had a plan that did not include Coleman or Stephens!.

Letting Coleman quit, without even making an effort to keep him, is another point to consider....

Last night Coleman was 23 out of 30, with 4 TD's...... Yes against a Div II team, that ranked #17 in the nation....

I can assure you this.... The crowd ( X10 smaller) in Chattanooga are not all over the coach or the QB.....

BJ is playing and Stephens is not.....

Yep, I drank the Coleman Cool Aide... Kiffin should have too! At least Coleman had potential, and three more years to develop it....

He sure showed that potential against Vandy.

Coleman was not, is not, and would not have been the answer at UT... EVER!!

COLEMAN QUIT. I'm glad he is doing well. Hope he continues to do well. He is gone, so get over it. He quit on all of us. He does not bleed orange, because if he did he would still be wearing orange. He Quit on us.

Also we are not rebuilding. We started over.

On #2---football is football---Throw and catch--which UT struggles at.

ON #4---Stephens THOUGHT he was competing for the job. Erroneously.

Uh, no. Throwing ball in the back yard with your buddies and playing QB for an SEC team are two different things. Playing QB for Chattanooga or playing for Tennessee are two different things. I'm sure Crompton would look much much better on that level than he does right now.

I'm also confident that BJ wouldn't look so good if he was starting for Tennessee right now, besides, he quit the team.

You have some flaws in your thinking.

1) Nobody let's someone quit. Quitting is something you do all on your own. Coleman made that decision. If Kiffin kicked him off the team, then you would have an argument.

2) Coleman's ability is probably better than D-2 but not quite D-1 yet. The team he beat would still get waxed by 40 points against a team like UT. Remember how Cropmton looked against WKU. They were D-2 last year and a lot of us thought maybe he had fixed his problems. He hadn't it was the talent level he was playing against.

3) Two starting qbs = no starting qbs. Rotating qbs is the fastest way to disaster.

4) If everyone knew Kiffin was so set on Crompton, why didn't Stephens look to transfer also? I'm sure there is a D-2 school out there that would have taken him.

Quality post. Clear, concise points and leaving no holes for counter-argument. Nice. 100% dead on as well. Couldn't agree more.

Wow---better get ready for the boos! You know you can't post anything positive about Coleman in here. BTW, I think you are spot on. Kiffin has been dead set on Senior QB Crompton---he wants to get HIS guy in, so we need not look for Stephens---EVER. Kiff seems willing to sacrifice this season for his "plan". Seems a shame since Monte is doing a stellar job and we can't expect too many more years with Monte. Dangerous ground --IMO--the team could tank on him. You can pound your head against a brick wall only so many times.

This IS a REBUILDING season! No QB on our team is a true, SEC caliber starter. Sorry, but switching to NS will do ABSOLUTELY zero good. It will make things worse, if anything. Cadence, rhythm, etc changes with the QB so why would you want to start from square one heading into your 5th game? That's ridiculous. JC is our QB so get over it. PLEASE drop this argument. It's BEYOND old and annoying. Our passing game showed some flashes and signs of improvement against a pretty good Ohio team that plays top 25 teams very tough.

Thanks Johnwardforever..... glad to see that some vol fans have a reasoning mind..... As an admitted BJ fan, I wanted him to be the starting QB for UTK long before he left for obvious reasons. so obvious to some but not to others....

Yes I followed BJ to Chattanooga and Loving it! what an arm that kid has got, and he is a leader...

Who gives a crap what BJ does at UTC?!?!?! He QUIT this team. No one drove him out. Your statements are ludicrous. He didn't like the competition at UT and now he is where he can thrive...against lower level competition--which is right where he belongs. Take your drivel elsewhere and come back when you have something to contribute.

will someone please tell BJ to quit posting this same crap every Sunday....

1. He quit on himself
2. He quit on TN
3. He quit on his teammates because he thought he was better than everyone else and felt he shouldn't have to compete for the starting job.
4. You want to talk about finger pointing in the locker room and outside of it..homeboy Coleman was the leader of that pack trying to get people on his side like its some high school breakup spat.

Due to the terrible recruiting of fulmer and his staff, it will take more than 1 year for kiffin to turn things around.

Kiffin said before the spring game he would name a starter.... after the spring game he did not name a starter. (not the first time Kiffin lied)

Why? becasue he wanted to recurit a freasman with the promise he would play first thing....

Leaving Stephens and BJ battling for 2nd and 3rd team spots. :boxing2:

Coleman saw the writing on the wall.... He wanted to play ball this year and not wait out a season..... a Dvision II team was the answer.... and Chattanooga just made good sense....
:neener2:

Did BJ quit? yep, that is for sure.... did he leave UT high and dry? yep, he did it before Kiffin left him high and dry.... ( 4 years on a team and not playing)

the fact that Kiffin is staying with Crompton, and not putting Stephens in, is a key factor in Kiffins "rebuilding process". and confirmation BJ was smarter than Stephens....( saw it coming)

The only way, Kiffin will play Stephens is if Crompton goes down.... :mf_surrender:

If you look at it closely, Kiffin isn't staying with Crompton becasue he believes in him... He is serving him up as the reason why a Freashman can walk in and play his freashman year.....

Just an FYI to Knoxville Fans.... UT-Chattanooga plays at home on October 31st, and November 14th... come enjoy the show..... and spend your money in Chattanooga for a change... :dance2:

Oh good! I am happy to know someone was paying attention when they hired Kiffin and his staff. It was well known that this is a two to three year project to get in top recruits for more than just ONE signing class. I think some people missed this and were expecting the Vols to be in the SEC Championship game this year.

Personally I also didn't have high expectations for this year, or even next year to be honest. We all knew who our QB choices were for this year and we have a pretty good idea of the choices for next year as well. Some things take time, but some people don't want to accept this.
Kiffin himself has come out and admitted he has to be rolling by year 3, I think a lot of the reason he is catching so much flack is because of what Nick Saban did with Bama, he had them in the NC talk in year 2...The difference between that and what Kiffin has inherited is Saban came in and already had decent talent to work with on Offense and Defense....JPW just needed some coaching, he was coachable...I've heard rumblings that Coach Cut has said that Crompton is uncoachable and is why he left for Duke, I don't know how true that is though

After listening to his radio interview in the spring it became obvious that BJ was nothing more than a little spoiled rotten McCallie boy. Crompton may be terrible but I won't ever question his attitude. UTC can have BJ. Maybe by the time he is a senior they will be eligible to qualify for the playoffs.
