We used to go to the rugby parties they held at that bar behind Wendy's on the strip....Can't remember the name of it back then....You haven't lived until you have been to a rugby party....It's a new level of insanity that can not be described.

Those ****ers can drink.

my daughter played rugby for michigan state a few years back..and now plays for the detroit womens rugby team....its strictly a club sport...no funding except by the players themselves...until you get to the national team then the expenses for travel are payed.

The Rugby house (or was it the lacrosse house?) had some of THE best parties around back in my day...only reason why I knew we had a team.

And I played for the "Racquet-Vols" (racquetball club team) when I was up there but we didn't deserves a link on the school's athletic site. :D

I played rugby in high school at Maryville, and we had a few players go to UT and play there. It's a fun atmosphere and I recommend people go out to a game sometime.

Interesting fact: My step-dad played rugby for UT in the inaugural year of the club, 1970, and they just recently had a 50th Anniversary meeting in Knoxville.

You might think your Dad is old but 1970 was not 50 years ago. :)

Yes that's it I believe....Been a few years since I've been there....They used to lineup pitchers of water for those guys and they would drink and drink to cool their systems down and then the beer would start flowing and all hell would start breaking loose....They would grab some girl and make her their rugby queen and sing these hilarious disgusting songs to them.....Yes Ptclaus, those guys can drink and if a bar brawl broke out I would certainly want them on my side...Ahhh good times and great memories.

My sister played for the women's team. She was has four international CAPS for Team USA. I knew nothing about it, especially women's rugby, until she started playing.
I like watching guys' rugby, but girls are just mean! Hair-pulling doesn't seem like it should be a part of any sport.

Since this is a football board...can any of them contribute to the football team? Maybe a TE, DE, or LB?

Some of them maybe, but the majority of the guys on the team have not played football since early high school or middle school. To be able to start for tennessee rugby you pretty much have to have been a 4 year letterman at the high school level. They are the premier program in the south.
