Wait... Jimmy Hyams won an AP award for "breaking" the Lane Kiffin story?

Someone should send the facts and evidence to the AP and demand a correction. (I half-kid)

Wow, Yeah I heard it first from Justin too...Well before anybody else brought it up.

Both JG and SpringBok scooped Jimmmmay:

I think Hamilton knows who the new coach is going to be already.

I think he definitely has a front runner. Who do you think JG?

If Tennessee doesn't get Butch, Lane Kiffin will be the next head coach at the University of Tennessee

Kiffin is a done deal. They don't need to announce publicly yet. Those who need to know already know...that is the reason for Hamilton swearing his staff to silence.

And if you want to confirm the press conference call the UT Sports Information office. The number is 974-1212

Meanwhile, at this time, Jimmy Hyams was still talking about Butch Davis... :eek:lol:

Not trying to take up for Hyams at all. But even Justin will tell you that Davis was being sought right up until the end and there was only one big hang up. BD wanted to be his own boss and be the asst AD. Hamilton would not go for it. The money was set but the title was a non starter.
But yes Justin did say it long before Hyams did.

I should really care less ... but this pisses me off. If you want to give Hyams some kind of lame award (you know, like "Whiner of the Year"), then fine. But let's not give him an award (or any credit) for something he didn't friggin' do! I vividly remember having already heard from various media that Kiffin was the new coach and then switching over to The Animal to listen to Hyams wax poetic about the merits of Butch Davis and how he beilieved with almost certainty that Butch would be the next coach. I kept thinking, "Man, is this dude on Davis's payroll or what?"

What a joke.

Its almost as bad as the CMA awards. Pick if the day. How they got this one so wrong is above me.

just as strange to me is how don "food for thought" dare won a best reporter award

Actually, he's probably deserving of that award.

If Hyams gets an award, then shouldn't Andy Katz get one too, seeing as he reported it before Hymen did?

The ironic part is that there is probably enough evidence to suggest that Hyams was actually the last person in Knox County/United States to break the story. Callers have had to inform him about things on his 3:00 p.m. show on several occasions. By 3:00 p.m., that story was already 4 hours old...
