Simple. Because if he couldn't keep it going at LSU, (at the end he was very mediocre and couldn't coach 'em up) an area dripping with talent, he sure won't be able to win big at a place like Tennessee, where recruiting is much more difficult. I'm pretty sure TN put out a feeler to see if he was interested. He isn't going to just come out and say he's not interested.
