With camp winding down however, Dooley said that the staff is ready to plant Waggner in one spot and leave him. That spot apparently is one of the starting cornerback roles.

"He's pretty settled at corner right now. I think he's been our most consistent corner. He's still got that ability to go to safety if something happens or just depending on who we play," Dooley said of Waggner's performance this fall.

Dooley added that Coleman and Teague were now battling for the opposite first-team corner spot, but added that Waggner had made a statement with his play.

"Coleman and Teague are kind of going at it right now. Prentiss has been giving us the best, most consistent play out there. We've got to keep progressing Coleman along."

Where are all the Waggner haters out there who said there is no way he would be playing this year? MHF I am looking at you!

I saw this post-scrimmage interview, but coming into camp I would have expected a Gordon/Moore battle for the the other CB spot. Coleman is really doing work!

IMO a lot of guys will see minutes. A starting spot in this secondary means you'll see more minutes but likely not all of them. Which is good. As much hate as Waggner gets he is and will be a good player and a good playmaker.

I do not quite understand all the Waggner hate. I think he has been pretty solid.

Agreed, especially when you consider he knows how to fill in at every spot. He may not be the best but having that flexibility is very valuable.

I always thought Waggner would start this year. Kid had a good year last year. Looking at all the watch list he has been put on, other must think so too.

IMO this is what draws the haters, his inordinate number of INT's against weaker teams is what jumped onto those lists. He's still a better corner than most will admit and outside of JJ he's our most versatile DB.

Moore, Brewer and Jackson will rotate with the Nickel spots. Moore would would be on the field in a Nickel base (passing situation) and Moore would then move to strong/free safety when Brewer is put in the box in a 4-2-5.

Being named to the Bednarik Award watch list and having 5 INT, 3 for TD last season is pretty damn good for a "scrub" imo!!!

He's not a good safety.

However, he's a pretty good corner.

I think his worst move last year was missing the tackle on Jordan Jefferson on the first play of the LSU game...I believe it was Waggner.

What is happening with BMoore? I thought we'd hear a lot about him during camp, but I haven't heard much

Ha. I don't typically don't say this but.... told you so. I don't think people hate Prewag though. They just saw the bonehead decisions he made in a few plays, wrote him off and over estimated, as usual, the impact of the new comers early in the season.

Waggner has a couple of things playing against him with some people here. One, he wasn't a big time recruit. Two, he isn't one of the Johnny Come Lately big time recruits that have gotten many excited. He's just a guy sort of like Poole who took what he had and developed it to the fullest extent he could. Somehow that offends some people.
