VQ Pod on Joey

I didn't imply anything. I said what i think about the situation.

Jake must not be as talented as expected. He was considered a top tier QB coming out of HS, who had nearly 18 months with CJH. He should have been ahead of JA, who wasn't considered a top tier qb coming out of HS or even after setting records at Appy St. There were many teams much better than UCLA that needed a qb this year. Few; if any, were that interested in JA.

I sincerely hope Aguilar kicks ass and leads us to many wins with his qb play. But i expect our wins to come on the backs of the running game and defense. Should JA try to be more than a game manager, the season may not go well.

He may prove me wrong amd i will be happy he does. But i honestly expect CJH to keep him in check and we win a 9 or 10 games with him handing the ball off a bunch.
So exactly how we won last year with 1 overall QB, 1 overall recruit, 5 star Nico?

Merk may end up transferring or he may not, he may be a successful college QB and he may not. But if he doesn’t, it’s not because he lost out to a much older guy with much more experience. It makes absolutely no difference what Aguilar’s HS ranking was 6 years ago. Heup may want to play that conservative style but Aguilar is a turn-it-loose type kid with exp in a pass heavy system. By your logic GMac sucks because he’s third string behind these guys when in reality he’s just not ready yet. Pate would prob call you a casual.

He’s 19 and Aguilar is 24. JA should be winning that battle, and he did.
Agreed. It isn't just about raw talent. Plenty of highly talented players fail because of a variety of reasons. That doesn't mean their talent level was overrated. There is a lot more that goes into being a good QB than raw talent.

Agreed some have put way to much emphasis on what a few talking heads have said. JA coming in had to be the favorite due to age and experience. Merk will be fine whether it is with UT or some other team in the future.

GMac is a true freshman with zero D1 experience. How you can equate that to he sucks is a mystery to me.

Jake has 18 months in a system vs Joeys 4 months..Jake should be ahead of him.

Define casual because maybe i am. But my guess is i am pretty far from most definitons of "causal". Unless the definiton is anyone who disagrees with you.

Merk has 0 D1 experience. Going through practice pales in comparison to 25 games started or whatever Joey has. That’s what I’m trying to explain to you. Merk may know the system as good as Joey but you don’t seem to see the value in actual games played experience and that’s why I can’t help but think you’re a casual.

Have you actually watched any of the games JA started? For Appy St? If you have and you aren't at least a bit concerned about the fact that he is starting for us, IDK what that says about you and your amazing football knowledge.

But do us both a favor and don't explain anything else football related. It is embarrassing...

Show me where I said Aguilar was a world beater. You’re moving the goalposts. And in football those have to stay still.

You still don’t understand the advantage those games gave him. Watch the games for a few more years and pay attention. You’ll learn. And hopefully your takes improve in turn.

No goal posts were moved.

If the guy i watched play agaisnt Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern and Clemson is betrer than JM, then JM must not be as good as expected.

Can you ask Pate about that take?

I don’t need to, it’s still every bit as dumb as the first time you said it.
