"...chances are Dormady wouldn't have told Austin Price Monday night how much Tennessee's recruiting pitch resonated with him; what he gleaned from some one-on-one time last weekend with former Super Bowl winning head coach Jon Gruden."

AHA!!! I knew it. All part of Chucky's master plan. He cleverly lulled our fanbase into thinking that he had no interest in being our Head Coach, but in reality, he's secretly been paving the way for his triumphant return to K-Town and will swoop into Neyland, steal all of Butch's recruits, and ride his majestic golden Roc bird into the sunset with 3 national champ trophies in hand.

HUZZAAHHHH!!!

Not to be a star gazer but rivals has him as a 2 star...is there something I missed that makes this guy such an amazing get? Or is it just that Alabubba offered him?

ESPN has him as a 3*, w/ a 79 rating. #18th PP-QB

As others have stated, Rivals didn't evaluate him and slapped a two star on him until they could evaluate him further. Hard enough to evaluate juniors and seniors in high school. Dormady missed his Junior year with a torn labrum. Every coach that has seen this kid throw has immediately offered afterwards even the cursed Red team.

Dormady is the son of a coach also plays baseball. Not really impressive rushing stats but has some wheels, had a 4.15 shuttle which is impressive for a 6-4 210 guy. Most talent evaluators that have seen him said he likely would be a top 100 guy if he had some junior film for evaluation. I expect an adjustment in ranking soon as Rivals does one.

He also likely is an early enrollee which not only gets him on campus and prepared earlier but also protects us from him changing his mind and leaving us high and dry. Hopefully that helps.

Quinten Dormady - Hudl

Kid was 6'4 210 lbs as a sophomore.

Watching this film for a second time a few things stand out to me. First off...watch how many times he looks off the primary receiver and throws to a secondary receiver. He drops back and you can't tell where he's going to throw the ball because he is scanning the field. That's not common from the film I have watched on other HS QBs. Also, he is very accurate in tight spaces. Especially on slants. That's a big deal for us with the height and physicality our WRs have. Slants could really be a great route for us. Lastly, he has a great touch on deep balls. He places it right where he needs it to be.

I'm excited about this kid and like his film more than I did any of the other QBs on our roster based on the points above. Eager to see how his senior season unfolds and monitor his stats.

Good assessment. The thing I like is how active his feet are. Sometimes if pocket passers have happy feet without a purpose it can end up being a problem. They tend to just stop and flatfoot their throw. Dormady, however, looks to step into most of his throws with a nice follow through.

It's also good because he will be expected to run in this offense. If he is already practiced at keeping his feet active it will be a lot easier for him to take off on 5-7 yard scrambles. He is certainly not as athletic as Jennings but his passing is pretty polished (especially considering that's sophomore tape). I'm excited.

EDIT: There are also some nice clips showing off his solid arm strength. I like the one where he has a man in his face and is forced to throw flat footed but he still gets enough zip on the ball to hit the post over the middle. That's natural arm talent.
