What camp are you in? It's starting to turn into UT civil around my family and friends. My brother is done with CBJ, I'm not. We are divided. We are meeting on opposite sides of the battle field, brother against brother, friend against friend.

Regardless of how we finish this year, I'm still in CBJ's corner? I've seen enough, he ain't the man to lead us to a national title? This is the question that separates blood, and turns friends into enemies lol.

As for me, I'm still in His corner regardless. The way I view football the indicators suggest we have a potential star for a head coach.

I vote that I'm still not sure but I'm not going to complain a lot as long as the wins are increasing every season.

Win out, 9-3 and then whatever, and we have shown improvement for another year. So I'm still in his corner. Sure, we all hoped for 10-2 or better. With the injuries, the tumultuous situation involving Hurd, poop can and did happen. Go Vols!

Ding Ding Ding... INJURIES

Injuries to our defense is the main reason I'm saying regardless of how we finish out the year. CBJ is a conservative football coach. A conservative approach needs a solid defense and we are not solid defensively due to injuries.

Not for head coach. He gave Hershel Walker way too big a contract with the New Jersey Generals of the old USFL.

On the contrary, he made millions on just one player and that player had the most yards in a season, over 2,400 yards. Most in pro football history and add 500 yards receiving.

lol, I'm off today. Watching the kids and pestering volnation with crazy questions :)

Ok...this was weird. I was perusing the politics forum when i clicked on your thread. I was having a bit of fun thinking you got confused and posted in the wrong forum. I came over to FF and saw it here.

Maybe I SHOULD stop sniffing glue...like, for real.

Agreed. Expectations were high at the beginning of the year, but our record has improved each year under CBJ. I don't expect him to have a legacy like Fulmer, but at the same time, who knows what the future holds. I'm still on the fence if CBJ is the right guy, but I am hoping he is and leaves no doubt in that soon. I don't know if I can handle another Dooley, or even just the fear of another Dooley.

His only shot at redemption is to win the SEC.

My bet is 25% of our fan base is done with him and many of that # never gave him a shot. The rest of us are still waiting and hoping he can do it.

Nobody at this point can say, "I know he is the guy, just give him enough time".

The win over a bad Florida team is big, but the loss to SC put him back to square 1.

Win the SEC and we can blame SC for us not making the playoffs.

With some help around the country we can still get in.

Go Vols!

I don't think he's the long term guy, however I want to wait and see how he handles next year. I also think there's a good possibility he pulls a Cuonzo.

of course none of us "know". I'm asking, what is your hunch based on his body of work so far. I think there is enough body of work to have a hunch, or an educated guess, at this point.

I'd like us to offer him no more extensions, wait out his contract then non renew 8-4/9-3 sure beats 5-7 6-6. No big buyout, then throw the bank at a championship level coach.

It is obvious that the Tennessee program will take more than 4 years for any coach to come in and make a championship caliber team. I've seen enough to know that Butch needs to look really hard at the OC position. I have seen enough to know, depth is a real thing and UT is still very shallow on experience and strength and conditioned players. This guys need real time to develop the kind of body that can handle the SEC competition......I still believe in Butch.......injuries have really socked it to UT this year.

GBO!

And the team was under .500 and the eventually the league folded. Good businessman, no question about it, he made huge profits from the whole deal. The only other one from the Generals who make out as big was Walker himself, eventually signing with Dallas and then getting traded to Minnesota in the deal that helped make the Cowboys dynasty of the 1990s.

I don't think he is ever going to be an elite coach but I'm not completely writing him off to ever win the SEC or make the playoffs.

Option 3 for me. Somewhere in the middle but lean towards he's not the guy long term...........

I am still not sure either way i keep thinking next year and next year never come's but in saying that i have never seen a team destroyed by injury's than our team for 2 year's in a row other team's have player's hurt but they don't lose NFL talent every week for 7 or 8 week's in a row like our team and if anybody is comparing us with Bama forget it as long as Saint Nick is there they will rule College Football if he stay's there 10 more year's people will forget the BEAR.

IMO, he was the right guy to get us out of the mess we were in but I feel that he has hit his ceiling.

"The guy" wouldnt lose to Will Muschamp coached football teams.

I also think there is a good chance he could Cuonzo his way out of here.

He will get another year regardless. No AD, no chancellor... no one to fire him or hire a new coach.

With that being said, Im still on the fence. If he goes and wins out the rest of the year and plays Bama in the SECCG close or beats them, then I'm still on the wagon. If he finds a way to lose one of these remaining games then I will most likely assume he will never get us there. Either way, he needs to let Mahoney and DeBord go for sure. Even if we go 11-3 with a SEC championship and a big bowl win, I am fine with them leaving.
