Do votes from fans even really matter? The SEC ultimately decides who goes where in these bowls.

Yes the SEC decides who goes to what bowl in communication with the bowl directors, if a teams fans don't travel well, a team is somewhat falling apart and the bowl is not really all that exciting to them, a bowl could say we don't really want them we'll pass.

Sorry, I’ve been voting for Arkansas. I can make it to the music city bowl for a day trip, but not Florida.

True, the SEC does get to make the final decision. But after the Playoffs, the Sugar, the Orange (if it applies), and the Peach Bowls, the conference, the teams and the bowls all get some input into who goes where. If one of the bowls in the pool of remaining bowl games really wants a particular team, you can rest assured that team will be the one that gets invited.

So does that mean we’re going to the Liberty Bowl then? Because they’ve wanted us for years, and had us last year until we backed out.
